    Mifi.

Okay Td tech heads and geeks oh and fellow alcoholics.
Got a tablet not 3G tablet didn't want wifi only but tablet i have doesn't have this option ,i know about data speeds and cause and effect of slow download speeds.
Tethered my phone to make portable hot spot get HSDPA but seems a long delay to load pages, using TD for example with ad block browser Firefox about 30/40 seconds to load home page.
If i get a 4G Mifi router do you think my connection will be notably quicker.
I think it should be so is it worth a punt, can get on pay as you go bit pricey but would only use for a short time say once or twice a month when out and about.
Only real downside its locked so when in Thailand will not work,i know plenty of wifi hotspots around in Bangkok but when in Bangsean poor coverage our condo no have wifi.
Can i get a Mifi router in Thailand it does seem to me tethering worked well in Bangsean last time using True and my phone to our sons phone he was streaming cartoons via my connection.
Thinking of getting on of below to try in the UK cost about £50 with 3 gig of data.
Then you get different price plans top end is £30 for 25gb or £15 for 3gb.

I'm not sure if this is what you're on about, but you can stick a 300bt PCI adapter in any old shitty PC and then tether it to your mobile. A bit slower than a fixed line connection but not much.

No i want to use tablet on trains and at the airport only get 30 minutes free wifi at LHR.
Can't tether to tablet via usb unless rooted then more software required via playstore.

When in Bangsean have no wifi or fixed phone line in our condo.

If it takes a sim card, can't you just unlock it and get a 500bt a month throwaway sim with internet access?

That is a good question, done plenty of looking around might not be easy to unlock.
If i could i would get it unlocked so i could use in Thailand as well.
    Will Google a bit more.

Pantip unlock everything for 200bt so I doubt you'll have a problem doing that. No guarantees but highly likely.

when you say "tether" do you mean you set your phone as a "wifi hotspot" ?

how is your phone internet access with its browser ?

30-40 seconds does sound like you have some sort of configuration issue like the data on your phone only turns on when there is a "demand" ( when your tablet requests access ) and then turns off until the next request for data access - maybe your power saving settings are configured in this way

I was thinking of getting a - WIFISD - Macally Peripherals - if I can find one , this could also be used like a MiFi if you plugged in a compatible USB HSPA data modem
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Yes make a wifi hotspot,i am using battery doctor on my phone and tablet would that cause a configuration issue?.
I used Airdroid to make the connection and tried connecting just by going through my phone setting. Both ways seem to load pages about the same speed.

What SIM are you using? Is it in Thailand or the UK?

Some UK companies do not allow some SIMs to use data when tethered. You might need to get a different SIM card.

How does your tablet load when connected to a different WiFi signal? Better or the same?

When you are using android on your phone, have you switched off "Receive incoming calls" when you are tethered? Allowing incoming calls at the same time can potentially slow down your browsing speed. (I should also ask, are you using one SIM card or a dual SIM card phone with 2 SIMs?)

    TwomonAir - Dualmonitor, remote
as in 2 monitors and not a two mils (mother in law) pawn flic .

Good I like a thread like this, where I'm in over my head , better than trying to figure out a crossword.

Not sure what you're trying to do.

But how about this app for your phone, it will transmit what's on its screen to your tablets screen ( I think ..)
then you can see, for example TD, on the relatively fucking massive tablet screen, whilst using the phones keyboard and 3g wifi.
    its a fiver,

there's a usb version too for use with the laptop, but that's probably not what your're looking for either

Butterfly and HarryCuda are missing, so there's nothing "untoward" about this thread...yet...

OK I'm here now. What was it you were after?

4G is amazing when it works. I was getting 50Mb on my mobile.

But that's next to a mast.

In my house, there is feck all 4G and I'm lucky if I get 2Mb on 3G.

So if you want to know if it will work there are two things to consider:

    (1) Are you in a coverage area? (Get someone with a 4G mobile to come and test).
    (2) How much do they charge for it (since it's new, they are treating it as some kind of "premium service" and charging the earth, rather than accepting that people have been paying over the odds for shit service for years).

Have been checking coverage areas 4g is patchy if not none existent in some areas only 1 real carrier with good coverage, 3g good most places .Price offered by most carriers its about £25 for 7gb bit pricey.
I will only be using MIFI on the move train/bus or at the airport.
