Can anyone help me get a dog to Udon Thani?

We have a dog that provisionally has a new home in the Udon Thani area, but we need to get her up there. Is anyone travelling up in the next few weeks that would be willing to take her up? If you're passing Hua Hin and could pick her up, that'd be great, but I can get her to Bangkok. She's very friendly & would be no trouble - we might be able to supply a travel cage for her, as well. We'd be willing to contribute towards petrol costs. Cheers.

There is a guy comes thru here and he has a pickup with a wire cage on the back thats always headed for Issan, but I don't think I would let him take her tho. even if he gives you 2 new plastic buckets.

If they let you take a dog on the bus (in a box - 2 seats paid for) then it wouldn't be such a problem, but the Midget says you cannae do it.

I think you can post dogs.

Pretty sure it's allowed. Just have to put them in a cage

^ How can you post a dog? Jeeze, with the Thai Postal System she'd be a week late & dead of thirst or starvation.

Unless I EMSed her, but I reckon a first class seat on an aeroplane would cost less than that!

^ I wouldn't be too worried if it could all be over in a matter of hours, but the post could take days or even weeks. Not good.

^ Cute, but I'm quite sure dogs are not allowed on buses, as Marmers said. Chickens or cows seem to pass OK.
There might be a nice truck driver who would do it for ya, NR, if you could trust him not to give the pup any amphetamines.

NR was quoting 2,000THB to Udon. If it was only 500, then that's ok. 2,000? No way.

^ Got to pay by volumetric weight. How big was your dog, reinvented?

OK, just found the bill for JJ's dog BKK to Chiang Rai. He's probably about the same size as Missy.

    Freight was 33THB x 37.5kgs (volumetric weight of dog & cage) 1,237.50
    AWB (Airway Bill) 30.00
Service Fee to the Freight Company I used 500.00

    Total - 1,802.50

I can scan the receipt & send it to you, if you like, Marmers. It's cheaper as excess baggage rather than cargo (is that how your dog went, reinvented?), but again, you have to have someone accompanying the dog.

You and your son should plan a trip to Udon. Get one of those sleeper train cars from Bangkok. Bet they will let a dog on if it is in a cage.

BTW, lots of folks headed to Isaan for Songkran next month maybe some would volunteer to take the dog in car or pickup?

A Thai dog, Missy. Previously owned we believe as she's pretty much basic trained. Sabang mentioned her in one or two threads on here.

Thank you for the reply. I have previously asked this same question several times before on this thread. Somehow it keeps getting deleted.
Anyhooter for what's it worth. I know of several pickups making runs to the KK area. (at least it closer to Udon & somebody can pick it up from there) I will ask around now, knowing what kind of dog it is.

To the mod that deleted my post several times over. Swivel!

I could be enticed. Not that far for me and could visit friends in Udon.

Yeah, I thought I'd seen you ask which dog, but when I went back to answer, the question had gone. I thought I'd imagined it.

Hopefully it will be before Songkran as I hate to travel during the holiday of highway carnage.

Where in Udon province is the dog headed? Anyone we know?
