    HONDA CB 750 C / Custom 140000,B Phuket

    Good looking classic Bike 1986, rebuild, spraypainted,deeb black, opgraded, new magnesium wheels,new dobbelt hydralic brakes, new crome on engine, new chopper saddel,backlight and flashlight, bike and engine total rebuild two years ago.     If it was a pristine and original CB 750 K the ask would be reasonable, but its not that particular bike,

    I had one of these years ago in the UK. Beautiful piece of kit. Would but it immediately but not at that price. What do you think would be fair?

    Theer was a CB 900 1982 0n ebay last week , stunning bike, 425 quid, now thats value

    depends entirely on condition, as you know those old bikes can be a money pit if neglected in the past

    ON EBAY LAST WEEK, THE LAST BIDDER FAILED SO THE GUY OFFERED ME THE BIKE AT 425, had a special S/Arm, should have bought it

    A CB 750 will always be worth more than a 900 because the CB 750 was such an iconic bike in all ways.

    a mate picked up one here in ozzie of an old bloke[93], he had it from new and the bloody thing was as original as, well put it this way it still had the little beeper that sounded when you applied the indicators i think he paid about a grand ozzie for it! bloody bargain, it.ll be parked up amongst his other 'treasures'

    Tooth belt drive was a pain... 750, 900, 1100 models.

    ^ Sure.

    The crankshaft & gearbox were linked (in the crankcase) by a wide toothed-belt. It was tensioned by a hydraulic mechanism, with a sliding shoe opposite. The belts would stretch & make a noise, sometimes destroying the slider shoe & guides.

    Very expensive item to replace.

    ???? Ive pulled down most CB models from the K up .... never seen a tooth belt tranny drive b4 .....always been double row chain ... can you be model specific ? Interested to see that in a cb. honda.......

    Looks like a chain to me Watty, still very easy for the novice to get confused between the two.

    Interesting.

    Are you saying then, that the CB 750 F, CB 900 F, & CB 1100 F models had a completely different drive mechanism to the CB 750 K> models? You could very well be right. I'd doubt that SA would have received a different model to other parts of the world, although there were some differences for the Asian machines, that were pirate imports to SA, versus the direct Jap imports.

    Your pic certainly shows a twin-chain. Perhaps the F series brought in the toothed-belt. Mmhh... apologies for that, then.

    Ive never seen tooth belt drive on the "f models either .... are you sure its a honda CB your thinking of ?
    Any pic or link ?

    I'll try & find some from old South African links - can't promise. I rebuilt my CB 900 F & had a number of CB 750 F motors in house, in my younger years. The toothed belt was also called a silent-belt if memory serves.

    It could very well be that different model numbers & specs were used in different countries. (For instance, I had a Suzuki 1100 Katana model of which 25 were imported from the NZ racing circuit - smooth-bores etc. They were different to the conventional models brought into SA. )

    I do remember some discussion regarding the CB 750 series pirates from Taiwan, being different to what we received in SA. Odd... Wish I could find a copy of an old manual to show.

    Looks very similar to the bikes coming into SA. That said, perhaps this is a different year series to the one's referred to here - 'old dogs' as we called them.
