    jobthai

We are using jobthai.com for hiring people, but normally local staff...

There is jobtopgun.com existing as well, we were disapointed of the service...

Difficult to get a working permit for a foreigner without higher educationnal papers at hand...

I need kind of a person like you for our machine maintainance and building maintainance... ( electronic knowledge a must for CNC machines...)

As we hired few foreigners allready, the pay was 50 k as a standard and end of year participation to cash flow depending level ...

Next to us, there is one automotive company, they hire Japanese people, one out of 150 thai workers about and they have as standard 200 k per Ipun...but qualified...

And where would you be located ??

hollydays over here is one thing, working is another !

What it seems like is that to get a job permit they at least want a BA. And some of the blokes can think the job but I can do it.

Actually I don't know much about Japanese but what I know from my friends who work in Japanese company, they don't hire any farangs to work in their company also they can't speak English much that's why they hire Thai people who can speak Japanese for translate what they want to Thai staffs.

In a company I work for (Korean company), there's no Farang. Korean people who work ins "Global" quality dept. they don't speak English which they should do.

That's why I have said, they are nationalism.

    Bigman,

There are USA civil service jobs in Thailand that come open from time-to-time. Many of the people who post in these forums are not qualified for one reason or another or possibly some who don't want you to know about them. It may take a while, even quite a while to land one ... but they can be had.

mate that would be for a thai person ( and that means a thai salary which would make TEFL salary look ok! )

the only sort of jobs you are going to get as an electrician will be middle / uppper mamangement roles of companies (or perhaps consulting etc)

you've gotta contact the emabassies and particularly the professional associations and chamber of commerces etc.

because each company only needs a few you'll have to look long and hard to get such a job. Is it only thailand that your looking at??

try Asia in general to 'widen your net'

Yes my hardest job is to surf the net a post on forums. Yeh right I put up with lots of shit for my money. I have had the police try and take me away three times. I had a fuel bomb throwen on my bed and burned my room down had many death threats. And get stuck out in the desert for 5 weeks and the only white guy around most the time. When anything goes wrong its my fault as arabs really cant be held responsible for them selfs. But I do get a colour TV and 24hr internet

why not seriously think about tefl.? Try Teaching as a change in career. Sometimes a change can be refreshing. You could do a course in Thailand. The pay's not great but you are young enough to work at it. It could be a clever way to come back into Thailand and get into the work routine Most tefler live well enough.

a good avenue might be, to oversee the electrical installations on new projects like hotels and condo buildings,
a lad who was also an electrician [ british ] i met on a golfing trip took 2 months just going around bangkok looking for such projects then finding out who were the development company and approaching them, eventually he got lucky that was in 2001. and in 2003 he was on the circuit so to speak,

if there are people willing to post any new projects and thier contact details, this will save you a couple of months leg work.

looking at the electrical installation standards in los you should be an asset to any such project, also you would have to teach the thais safe practice and installation.

    best of luck

Well so far the plan is to work with haliburton in hopes I can move to the oil fields. Then just maybe with that experience I can move on to the rigs. And well if that fails I will just do two years with kbr and come to Thailand and teach and maybe do odd jobs

^this may sound like strange advice coming from a guy who arrived here with 100 pounds on him; but never come to Thailand without a Plan B. The place is not the same as it used to be -IMHO

*right, serious moment over, where's CMn*
