Chungking mansions have gone now i believe, its was the pits of Nathan rd,rat infested hovel.

Stayed there one night in travellers hostel long time ago on top floor, window was open during the night, and you could see the rats walkway going up and down the building, no need to count sheep to get to sleep.

A guy who stayed there on a regular basis told us stories of rats coming up the toilet when people where having craps.

Chunking Mansions was there last time I was in Hong Kong, but this time I didn't go over to TST.

Still a warren of Indians and dodgy types.....

Horrible place though, staying there was gross when I did it myself in 1987.

When I wrote 'Great place' on my post I didn't mean Chungking Mansions was a great place. The room was the size of a double bed, the toilet / shower all crammed into a cupboard space. But I knew no better, I was advised to go there by someone I knew. It was handy for the party at Fatty Angelo's round the corner.

The rumour was about CK mansions that the old indian men made most of their money from pimping out their wives; 100 bucks a pop in their bedroom. it was not a rumour.

Umm no. I do still have a picture though of an ex collegue of mine getting noshed off there. He lost a bet, and had to test the theory out, and in about 2 minutes of asking the blokes one of them said yes. Up to his squat, his wife was cooking, stopped, dropped to her knees on a gold and purple cushion and proceeded to nosh him off. I took the picture, and we left.

Not my most bizarre experience in HK, but pretty close to it.

watching the vid, they show the lifts, those lifts were famous for the indian guys playing elbow tit with western girls, and many of the girls giving the indian guys a good smacking.

Many bizarre things went on in HK, did you ever come across the Oldest working girl whore house across the rd from nathan rd, all the HK police used to drink in there, it was a real fun place.

A lot of legends about Chungking Mansion ... But it's still the place where you can find some of the best Indian restaurants in Hong Kong

An other face of Hong Kong, taken last Sunday. You can recognize Hong Kong famous water front in the background. Sorry for the quality of the picture, it was taken with my lousy phone.

Mad Dogs and Englishmen, go out in the midday sun.
The smallest Malay rabbit deplores this stupid habit.
In Hong Kong, they strike a gong, and fire off a noonday gun.
To reprimand each inmate, who's in late.
In the mangrove swamps where the python romps
there is peace from twelve till two.
Even caribous lie down and snooze, for there's nothing else to do.
In Bengal, to move at all, is seldom if ever done,
But mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

Good old HK, knew it like the back of me hand. Did you by any chance have a pint at the FCC, Bobcock? Fer my money, one of the best bars in the world.
Somehow, your excellent pics have conspired to miss my old apartment (Convention Plaza) and my ex-office (Lippo) in the same shot.
It was nice to be able to stroll from home to office, although following the Mad Dogs & Englishmen principal, I mostly took a cab.

I was in Hong Kong last year and stayed not far from Chunking.

I always go there to change money. go to the far back as the best rates are had there.

The money changers at the front give shit rates, They clean up with the Muppet Back Packers changing there.
