    Got that right!

Expensive too! Four of us had a Korean Seafood Grill lunch and the bill came to almost $200 USD! Crap food as well. This was in Busan which has all the charm of Tirana, Albania...

Korean food makes me ill thinking about it. Good shopping in Seoul tho. That's about all I liked about the place.

Sorry Boon Mee, you got taken on this deal or just happen to be at a restaurant that was way over priced. Could be that my residing and working in the ROK has provided the opportunity to locate the better Korean restaurants who cater to the locals as opposed to tourists. I've taken many people out to restaurants in Busan, Seoul and elsewhere in the ROK and had feasts for a lot less than $200 US. Just gotta know where to go and what to order.

Shopping in Seoul has become expensive but there are occasionally some bargains to be had. Although nothing are as they used to be, I've seen Namdaemun, Tongdaemun and other wholesale markets where great bargains could be found in the early 70's and somewhat less through the 80's and 90's turn into shopping that is still somewhat ok it just isn't the bargin place that it used to be.

and then the upscale shopping in Moyong Dong and Apkujongdong, etc are just unaffordable by my standards. Way over the top as far as prices go.

Seoul is quite expensive. It sits right under Tokyo as one of the most expensive cities to live. I lived in Seoul from 2006-2009, and I found the cost of fruits/vegetables costly (compared back home of course).

You are right that Myeong-Dong and Apkujeong are one of the more upscale areas to live and shop. I lived in Gangnam area for two years and that area is also very expensive (being the business district). I found the price for some Korean food expensive like Korean bbq and Galbi. Seafood is not cheap like Thailand, but cheaper than what you'd pay in places like Canada.

The big markets are quite reasonable for shopping, but you find a lot of knock off's and junk.
