I think I was at Laem Chabang the day that ship rolled in a few weeks ago.
How did you get between Beijing and X'ian? How long did it take?

We flew and it took a little over 2 hours.
Beijing to Zhangjiajie is 2.5 hours and there's only 2 flights per day - we went in the 'off season. One flight in the morning and another around midnight from Beijing & Shanghai. A little inconvenient so that's why I'm trying to find those alleged Tour Operators here in Bangkok who put together charter flights in April. No luck so far and I've written to >30 of them.
A Deplorable Bitter Clinger
No problem. I thought the other side looked like the more ancient architecture. I walked the bund on many an evening. Go half a mile into the old city and you are back a hundred years.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

Sounds/looks like a wonderful Boon Mee. Brings back memories of places where I've been, lived and worked. Lots of fantastic sights and food to experience. Thanks for sharing.

zhangjiajie really is a magnificrnt bit of god's own real estate; its also in the arse end of nowhere basically 6 hours northish of changsha
we'd gone overland from Macau to Canton then by train to Changsha
stopped in a fantastic little town called Feng Houang which is also well worth a trip
forgive the piccies but were taken with an olympus point and shoot
feng houang by night; would be spectacular with a good camers
we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...
absolutely chokka with chinese tourists too
not too shabby in the day time really
some tatty flats
down by the river
better than bangers klong water
then off to tienmenshan
Amazing pics, BM. That socialist system seems to be working well over there.

thats tianmenshan in the background
going up

all tidddly of course but with english subtitles
quite impressive as its all outdoors
real star of the area is wulingyuan park; so called inspiration for pandora if you believe it or not
outstanding area
Cheers for adding to the thread K. reinvented! The pics are just fine and I hope to add some more when me & the missus go back up there in April. Rather spend Songkran where it's a little cooler!
'Socialist' system is China's own flavor of Communism which, as K. Immenient says and I concur, seems to be working.
