    Chiang Mai, Baan Orapin hotel

Does any body know this place in Chiang Mai and give me a review?
Thank you because I will be there at the end of September and don't know where to stay for one week.

I haven't stayed there myself but I have read nothing but glowing reports about the place on various forums.

Well, when you get there, you can do a review for us. Don't forget to take some pictures.

I wouldn't want to stay in that neighborhood. It's across the river from the old city, the restaurants are higher priced (most are very good though) infact everything is higher priced. The "things to see and do" are further away. You are still in a heavy Tourist area though.
Really depends on what you expect to do for the week you are there. In that pirce range (2K+ Baht) you can choose among some very nice 3 & 4 star hotels closer to old city. Your schedule is just before 'high season' up here and there are so many choices. Also this is probably the time of heaviest rain in Chiangmai and if it doesn't flood this year I will be greatly surprised. The hills are saturated with ceasless rain and just about every drop that falls inthe hills will find its way into the Ping River.

In a City where excellent guesthouses are available for 5 - 700 baht and some excellent (somewhat more remote) spa/resort type places are available from 2 - 4000k. The place doesn;t sound like such a good deal. Take all my comments with the caveat that I am Thai cheap, my idea of a good time may not be on the same level as yours and I have never stayed at the place . The orchid at about 1800 baht a night is a centrally located 4-star hotel.

This hotel is right in the "thick of things' near enough to be almost in the "night bizarre" (pun/misspelling intended) area. it is walking distance fromteh old city (if you 're up for a walk that is). Very nice hotel with pool it's owned by the same folks that bring you Beer Chaang so the beer selection at the lobby bar is disappointing (Heineken of Chaang).
Last year the Night bazar area was under a few feet of water for a couple of days. What are you coming to Chiangmai for? (aside from vacation) What do you expect to be doing? What are you looking for in accommodation? Give me some ideas I'll try and recommend some places to stay. I'll drive by the place tonight while out for dinner, give you my ideas on the place from the outside, but from the address i would not choose to lodge visiting friends there.

hey, that's where I had my Mom and sis' stay 2 years ago. Very friendly, nice rooms, tucked in a garden , and actually in a nice neighborood, except the sidewalks are a bit small as you leave the place. There is plenty of life at night, with clubs cum restaurant with live music, river restaurants (not much more expensive than anyhting else). You can walk to the night market in 20, 25 minutes.
