Slightly bigger bike rental in CNX.

I'm looking to rent a bike up in CNX for part of next week, anybody happen to know of some places, or is Tony's still the main guy.

Am looking for anything between 250-600cc, but a CBR/VFR 400 would suit best.

Anybody know of anyplace or anyone?

    Thanks.

POP car rental just past Spotlight has a new Yamaha 600cc. Its not an R6 but more of the "naked" style bike. Looks pretty good.

Richco Motorsports on Wualai Rd rents these:

    And these:

At 1450 CCs they qualify as "slightly Bigger?"

In Feb I took a trip with the guys there up around Doin Ahnkang, Doi Tung, Tha Ton, Chaing Saen, and last week I took one of those inthe top photo around hte Mae Hong Son Loop (with a few side trips along the way).

When the website's done I'll be posting a thread on the rides with a link, but you can reach them at:

5k per day. pretty reasonable for what it is. They also provide packaged tours complete with hotel, chase truck etc. I recently spent a few days in the saddle of each helping to map out guided tour packages and photographing the routes. The chase truck was a nice feature Ice chest full of refreshment, and no need to pack any gear. Three days inthe saddle of any of those bikes is easier on my back and hip than one day in this fuckin office chair, I gotta tellya. Them twinCam bikes are Sa-moooooth.

The Dyna had 9500K on it when I turned it back in. The fat boys have a few more k on them but nothing noticeable. The bikes are in pristine condition. I'm trying to finish up the website before Song Khran. When I do I will post a thread recapping a couple of the rides with photos. Those are not the only bikes in the fleet, just the ones I rode.

Took the fatboys on a ride last week. (no chase truck, but packing a laptop, two cameras and a few days clothes in a small back pack worked well, missed those tasty beverages at some of the more isolated stops though). We swapped bikes (yes you could say we swapped fat boys like the sick fuckers we are ) half way through the ride. Those are not the only bikes in the fleet, just the ones I rode. theres more fat boys and dynas available. But I've got a helluva lot of writing to do on the rides, bikes, term & conditions; better to do it on the site, I hate dong the same work twice. Anyway, I gotta go map out a few more tour routes They got a 14 & 23 day tours in the works. Miserable work, but somebody's gotta do it.

if you're really interested, give 'em a call think they might would work somethgn out for a longer term rental.

    Totally different experience to mine..

I only dealt with Jeff / Pikey at Tonys Bikes and he couldnt have been more accommodating, I actually blew my own bike up while on a tour of the north and despite never having met me before, he told me to bring it straight to their shop, took me round town to meet mechanics, just volunteered free time to help a biker in need. Also invited me to a BBQ and a Triumph open day ride also extremely generous with his time.

I dont know if they have started to change out the CB400s in favor of ER6's which would be a much better machine but based on his help and assistance I would be checking there first.

I was in Pattaya last August and rented a '98 Yamaha R1 for 600 baht/day on beach road. Don't know how they could do it, but I wasn't about to ask. Must say that the bike may have looked good, but it was beat-up mechanically. In other words, it was barely passable to ride on the street, but I certainly wouldn't take it to the track.

'04-05 Fireblades were going for 1K/day. Again this was right on the corner of Soi 8 and Beach road.

Considering the thread is about renting bikes in Chiang Mai and not Pattaya, it really doesn't matter what he knows about bikes, now does it...

I gave a price for renting bikes elsewhere as a comparison, since another poster quoted a price of 5K baht/day. Yikes! So I thought the price I paid in August of this year would have been appreciated.

This is Thailand we're talking about. Isn't it? And aren't we really talking about value for our dollar? So it does matter what one knows about bikes, doesn't it?

Thailand is a big place... Bike rental rates in a tourist area 900 km from Chiang Mai have little bearing on the OP... Not to mention that rental rates for Harleys is going to differ greatly from the same rates for a rice-burning Honda...

No harm, no foul... Just making a point...

On another note, I would never rent a sport bike in Pattaya... Too many horror stories about rip-offs, faulty equipment and deaths... Simply not worth it to me...

True, but seeing as the rice-burning Honda is way more advanced than the Hardley Ableson, I'd expect the Honda to cost more.
