My very favorite Khao Soi place,is not around the usual Faham area and well away from the tourist areas.The food here is excellent,keep it a little Teakdoor secret.
The place is called "Mae Jam Paa"
It is off Aom Muang Rd
When coming from Nong Hoy intersection on the Ring Road,going towards Don Chan(Big C) intersection,do a U-Turn under first flyover over railway tracks then first soi to the left.The soi is called Soi Techno Asia
Keep driving along the little canal until you come to the little bridge,cross it and the place is right there to your left.
Order a large bowl of Khao Soi Khai and some Muu Satay and a big bottle of Heini,or Leo or Singha( or whatever) Enjoy
Be warned the large order is HUGE!

I've gotten lazy. I rarely go out for a cheap meal preferring to fry up some fatty farang foods wolf 'em down, spend my time so-called "working" in front of this box. it's beginning to show in my attitude and my waistline. The Ol' Lady has given up on getting me to go out for "issan food" She's just going to get fat along with me. Tonight I gave us both a treat when she asked กินอะไร (what are we going to eat)? I surprised us both by blurting out "อาหารอีสาน" (Isaan Food). One of the most interesting places to go out for a cheap but delicious meal is the area on ถนนห้วยแก้ว (Huay Keaw rd) near the main gate into Chiang Mai University:

Well, I finally got my arse in gear and checked out Isaan Food 1,000,00% and it was damn fine. Moo nam tok, tab waan, moo ping, som tam thai, sticky rice, all very good. And cheap, 160B for the two of us.
