This thread reminds me I haven't taken kids out on bikes for a while, weather and holidays and whatnot interfering.
Must get back into that soonish.
Meant to ask how it was going after updating the thread.
Kinda interested in taking up a bit of off-roading. A KLX250 must be cheap as chips nowadays.
Got a ride up around beautiful Fang early next week, got the Go-Pro set up properly now.
Will be interesting to see the twisties on the GoPro. (To me at least.)
Though Dill and Jay have gone a bit quiet.
What happened that?
You sit on it?
There's an app for go pros called Quik, that's free. There's a desktop app too.
The vids can only be 60 seconds long but gets boring after that anyway especially the way you are riding that like my Grandad on an old Triumph you should speed them up about 500% or think of doing a fukkin time lapse movie
Yeah, downloaded it yesterday and it comes up that it needs Win 10 to install it. Fuck that.
Got Win 10 on the laptop in the condo, if I turn it on today it should be booted by the time I get back from Fang next week.
All good now anyway, with the mount the right way up (across) I won't need to rotate/edit any vids.
I can edit them for you
If you're as good at editing as you are as posting things to Chiang Mai I'll pass. I might get the vids back in 2027.
My suggestion FWIIW, Do not waste your time recording in 4K, the Hero 5 has a Frame rate resolution quirk and it looks terrible (Assuming you have the 5) Stick with 2.7k 60fps. Easy clean up and better resolution on wide angle
Its always enjoyable to return and playback your ride. Do it on your Big screen TV for some big view
I have been busy, did a quick S Korea trip for work, Then to Rayong, back in BKK heading off to Dil's neck of the woods in a few days.
That said, No Moto time on the RVF. Nice pics btw albeit that blue cheapo marker across your vids made them unwatchable.
Changed the settings to 2.7k 30fps and chucked the mermaid in the pool.
But it doesn't half lose quality when uploaded to YT. Says the max is 1080p, but doesn't even look like that when full-screen.
Is there any video hosting site that hosts 2.7k videos?
The video file looks amazing on the big TV, looks pretty crap when played full-screen on youtube.
I was under the impression that Youtube reduces the quality of uploaded videos for a while for some reason but reverts them to the original quality after that.
Here's what Googun says:
Low video quality after upload
When you upload a video, it will initially be processed in low resolution. This process helps you complete the upload process faster. When the upload flow is complete, your video will be available to stream in low resolution, on a wide variety of devices.
Higher resolutions, such as 4K or 1080p, can take more time to process. While this processing happens, your video may appear to be missing higher resolutions for several hours. Once high-resolution processing is finished, higher resolutions will be available on your video.
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/71674?hl=en
To see if your video has finished processing in higher resolutions, check the video’s watch page.
Open your video’s watch page.
In the video player, select Settings .
Click Quality.
If higher quality options are still missing, processing is still completing in the background.
1440p is the highest resolution it is giving for your video now, Luigi.
Exactly Right Nev. Original upload the quality could be as low as 480p. Takes up to 2 days or more for a 2.7k vid on YouTube. It's why I considered setting up my own website to host my Vids and Pics.
2.7K 30fps is another good setting Luigi. I use it frequently. I have also shot in straight 1080p and they look nice. At this current time with technology shooting in 4k is a waste. Most people who would view it would never fully enjoy it because their set up is likely not UHD 4k TVs or Computer monitors. I use 2.7k 30fps on my drone vids. Works well and does not make a huge file
The 1440p that YT has for Luigi's video now is more or less 2.7k, so it's now at the best it's going to get on YT.
Damn nice ride up around Fang today.
Proper landscape view mounted on the front, but bit more wind noise, the the mount is a bit bouncy. Think me mate did me with some 200thb Chinese piece of crap. One bit is cracked already. Will have to check up on getting a proper one.
And need to change the FoV from Wide to 'Superview'.
Everything's better when it's super.
The wide FoV isn't really wide enough to capture the valleys and mountains off to the side.
To overtake the Rozzers over a double yellow line or not... You'll never caught me alive Coppers
Nice we morning, lunch, afternoon, when up North.
And 15 minutes or so of videos if you're having trouble sleeping.
I did. Could see the insignia along the side from the rider's PoV.
One of the great things about living/riding in Thailand.
The freedom to ride without being Lulu'd by fines and losing your license for doing 51 in a 50.
Well, here's a turn up for the books. I've had a secret message from somewhere in deepest Hat Yai. Apparently an unknown mathematician there has worked out your average speed for 2 kilometres in that last video. One km was ridden at an average speed of 94.7km/h and the other km was ridden at an average speed of 102.8km/h. Let's hope the rozzers are too busy to answer the phone.
