100Baht a day in Chiang Mai... is it possible?

I don't recall searching for anything in Chiang Mai on You Tube, but this was in my suggested viewing list. So I watched it & here it is you're interested. Be aware it says that it was uploaded 10 months ago so costs may be dated. I also notice that at one point he has a bottle of water but it wasn't added to his total cost (IIRC)

My own costs in Khon Kaen yesterday were 156baht

    Breakfast (2 banana cupcakes)11B
    Coffee 35B
Lunch (Kai Geo Moo Saap) 35B
    Tea (Panang Gai) 35B
Coke & Water 40B (was out walking & spotted the Norwich v City game at 2-0 so decided to stop at the bar & see the other goals. This is not typical of my daily spend - but then again only 40B)

Utterly miserable way to live, but some seem to prefer it to back home, which must have been bleak.

You can get kow mun gui from a shop for 30 baht, comes with soup and water.
Kway teow for 30 baht for lunch, comes with water. Some rice dish with two different servings of meat/veges, 35 baht, for dinner, comes with water, too. Instant coffee is only 10 baht in those shops. It's enough food to live on and not be hungry.

Is it possible? Well yeah. It is also possible to hit yourself in the nuts with a large hammer. Personally, would not care to do either....

Living on 100 baht a day would get old fast. No wine. No sushi. No way.

    ^Absolutely.

How bad was it where you came from that you would come over here and feel good about yourself living like a friggen peasant. I think some are going the wrong way......

I mean to do it for 1 day....Okay. I have gone all day and spent nothing but am I going to put a Youtube video about how to live on nothing?

Sheeeesh what a life. Maybe this explains these "Patter swan dives" and "shooting range toppers"...

Nothing wrong with Thai food. But occasionally I might want a English greasy breakfast.

100bt a day, fucking hell you're screwed if you smoke a pack a day, eh?

    He's describing a tourist/traveller type of existence....2-3 weeks.

Fuck, no one can be conscious to live like this.

Sure, but who would bother to be on such a tight budget? Unless you are very broke. There have been times when I was very broke here and had no income coming in. But it was hell eating those noodle packs and fried rice every day.

BTW I spend about 300-500 baht on food each day and I'm pretty frugal.

Doesn't that "amazing Thailand" logo at the start and end belong to the TAT? Is this thetype of tourist they are trying to attract?
