    afloat in kanchana

I'm looking for a raft/hotel in Kanchana. I've searched online and checked out the info here on TD. Just wondering if anyone has any fresh info. My budget is 2 gees (per room) a night. Taking my father and brother. Looking for a tranquil place to sit by the river, drink a beer and dangle me feets in the river, and go to bed with air. Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

I was looking to go there next week for the same reasons - a friend recently stayed there on the rafts - on the river, was looking to book at the same place, unfortunately I am having problems getting in touch, when I get hold of him, will post details of hotel ..........

I stayed at a place down near the bridge which was brilliant, cant remember the foking name.

Anyway hire yourself a bike and go exploring as the country side is great.

If you got time fok off up to Sanklaburi for a few days, its worth the effort.

I`d look for a place which is not directly on the main traffic route on the river.
The noise produced by passing longtails going 20 knots and floating discos at night is a pain.

Most of my tours stay at a new resort called Koh Korya...
it's a little way out of town but presume you are driving...rooms are about 1500 baht off the street...they have some raft rooms and it's a very nice place to stay...websites crap but the resort is great...

regardless of the misinformation spread here,

Kan is VERY popular with Thai people during the weekends and you need to either go during the week or book ahead...

We stayed in floating raft place sited by Thetyim above. Was just what we wanted . Quiet, relaxing and the river to splash around in.Fished it too.
Unfortunately mrs. deepee got us in a spot of bother when she paid off a local kid to set the abused and chained up monkey free one night and was sprung doing another deal over the chained up elephant the next. She did not realise that the elephant was being used to help shift the rafts around depending on the water level in the river.
