One More Bar is always decent and the owner is a good chap! Ting Tong bar and the one next door who's name escapes me if you're after ladies or down on the corner towards the cemetery 19th hole etc. Then there's Fat Jimmy's over the road which is a library cum bar which has large Archers at 50b.

Otherwise Buddha Bar down by the Jolly Frog or Pen Bar and Rascals up the other end.

Thank you for you reply I have had a few beers with BIG JIMMY a good laugh was had always has a few people there to have a chat to and he plays some good old music when I’m in Kan I usually stop by for a beer and a chat. Is Rascals still owned by an English guy I think he was called Muzz, last time I was there it was not open but the year before (2008 ?) it had a fantastic breakfast and he was the only bar in Kan to have the cricket on. I also have a beer at the 9999 or red Kangaroo over the road from the River Kwai hotel with Don the Scot.
Has any one got a favorite drinking hole that they would like to suggest?
    Cheers

Muzz is a mate of mine from back home and although he still lives in Kan he doesn't own Rascals anymore. He's now teaching English and doesn't really go out much although I did see him at Jimmy's a couple of months back.

Has any one have a favorite hang out for some fun. I’ll be there about 20 Dec 2010 for a few day if any one is in town and would like to catch up I’ll post here closer to when I get in town.

The guy asked for info - posting a map of Thailand to aid him with Kanchanaburi is not necessary. It is also not necessary to turn it into an argument albeit in webspace.

    1) Best place to get a good room & eat very well is the Jolly Frog, basic rooms to nice rooms, floating rooms are great but can be noisy. It is also ok to bring ladies back.

    2) Food, try & experiment but Jolly Frog has the best food at the best prices. I miss the Volcano Chicken - full roast chick - nothing better when combined with hot bread rolls.

    3) The utter bs that open bars or anything only recently existed is annoying, have existed since 2004.

    4) The girls are not from far distant places, when I was there I stayed with same girl (from a bar) for 2 weeks & we somethimes stayed at her families house - 30km away.

Kanchanaburi is a fantastic place, I have been 5 times & saw a big change but it is still the cheapest place & really nice. Lots of history, not all bar girls (I hope) & chilled. Wander at 9am & it is cool. I miss it, I wish you the best there - I cant get back for a year or so.

    All the best to all.

Way to tiger temple ? Any new hotel at Kanchanaburi ?

    Hello,

somebody has been to Kanchanaburi lately ?

Any new hotel on the river ? Or do you know any that is quite new ? (don't like filthy old guesthouses...)

Nightlife has improved ? But still close at 2am ?

Also, if you know if its possible to drive to Tiger temple easily, I would prefer than having to take a pickup with backpackers.

    thanks.
