where did u read he was abducted? all reports i have read, said he walked out to allow his maid to clean the room.

"It was around 2 p.m. on Feb. 14 when Dave Walker wandered away from his idyllic Cambodian hotel with little more than a bottle of water and the clothes on his back. Left inside his room at Green Village Angkor, a guesthouse in the resort town of Siem Reap, was his laptop, cellphone and passport. The 58-year-old journalist and filmmaker, an Edmonton native who moved to Cambodia to make a documentary, told a hotel employee he was leaving so his room could be cleaned."

These figures are no surprise: In Dubai 1 in 5 of the population are foreigners, in Singapore Foreign Domestic Workers (FDW) numbered around 100,000 alone last time I looked.

Agree - I've worked in Singapore and that sounds about right to me.

I'd have thought that more than 1 in 5 residents of Dubai is a foreigner. The entire national population of the country is only a little over a million.

Expatriates’ Strange Lives in Cambodia . . . well this guy's Cambodia days seem numbered - but give him points for trying.

Slovenian Imprisoned After Swim to Cambodia
    BY KHUON NARIM | AUGUST 1, 2014
The Koh Kong Provincial Court on Thursday charged a Slovenian national with illegal border crossing after the 46-year-old allegedly swam to Cambodia from Thailand to evade immigration controls, court and police officials said.

Sorman Gorazd, who was previously deported from Cambodia for creating public disturbances, “was charged with illegally crossing the border, because his passport did not have an entry stamp,” deputy prosecutor Bou Bunhang said.

“He is now being held in prison.”

Provincial deputy police chief Nhem Dara said Mr. Gorazd was arrested on Tuesday after being picked up in Mondol Seima district’s Bak Khlang commune.

“He is alleged to have illegally crossed the border by swimming about 1 km from the Thai border when his passport was refused entry to Cambodia [at a land border crossing],” Mr. Dara said, adding that Mr. Gorazd had already been kicked out of Cambodia for “provoking disorder of public security” in Preah Sihanouk province.

I feel safer in PP than in parts of London - which I regard very safe place to live. I feel the threat, if you hear me, in Europe, France, Eastern europe (Hungary perhaps excepted)

Natural precautions taken, of course. Not bragging of your rolex (they know it is fake anyway) and 50k dollars in your wallet after closing hour in front of Heart of Darkness or Pontoon, try to look not drunk, goes a long way, even more so at Martinis for the location

    1. Euros are poor, losing sucker of a continent. See how they risk killing themselves running on moving trains to get to the UK from France

Yes, everyone can see Dutch, Swedes, Belgians etc... trying to hop on trains bound for the utopia that is GREAT BRITAIN!

You do seem to have this chip on your shoulder about Europe, close to every one of your posts goes on about how awful it is yet you speak in glowing terms of the UK, though you're clearly neither - did your refugee application get rejected?

Not to confuse with modern day Cambodia - I just got angry with "expats living here for decades." I know NGO Lexus Shits living there long time but real people arrive perhaps for longing for freedom, or trying to avoid criminal charges, and everything between.
