My next door neighbour simply didn't believe me when I told her that in the UK we need to pay to have old cars taken away to the scrapyard. she also didn't believe me when I told her truthfully that I bought a 1990 BMW e30 318i coupe for 5,000thb which only needed a new diff (one was sourced at the scrapyard and fitted by a mate for 25 quid). The same car being a minimum of 150,000thb in Thailand.
Cars are a complete rip-off here, especially second-hand or imports. But even those built here are marginally more expensive than those same models in the UK (not taking into account running costs).
