Ok then, probable stupid question time... The pool's 'open air' correct? What's in place to prevent overflow from rain?
no, I didn't forget
but I don't remember why you wanted to

you can pop round for a chat anytime, but you will have to speak Thai as the builders are not good at English
oh, you only have three greenies!! I told you the dog will not like you
How much were those tiles a sqm ? i like that look....what they made from ?
sorry Nawty, they were included in the overall price for the concrete building
They do them in various sizes, so you can vary the final appearance
They are cement, have a lip so no nails needed
Less than B200 a sqm, I think, but ask your local BMerchant
Will check prices. I believe I saw two suppliers with three sizes each. Never much considered as we use so little hot water.Originally Posted by DrAndy

and thanks in advance
Here's what Global Roiet has.
200 liter, 45,000 baht
165 liter, 35,000 baht
The one on the left was unmarked but think 100 liter. No price shown.
yeah, Norton, those are the glass tube type, which have to work by gravity, so need to be roof mounted or pumped out by a hot water pump
I have a couple of old ones given to me by a nice bloke! I will be using one on the farm if I can source a pump
The type I was looking for have a manifold with copper finned tubes; these can be pumped through with pressure
I did find one made by the Egat research station last year, went up there with FFrankie, so I have managed to contact them again and have now ordered one
160l for B49K, which is a lot cheaper than Solatherm (double price) or any of the others I have contacted. HomeMall near me sell a 100L version for B55k, for instance
sorry, forgot to say thank you for your efforts, Norton
thank you
Sounds like you have it sorted.
the overflow pipe is attached to the skimmer, they should have installed one when they built and installed the skimmer box, look inside the skimmer about 3/4 from the bottom should be a hole, this is the over flow, if its not there then they either havnt connected it or they havnt drilled the hole yet, but the hole should connect to a blue pipe and to a drain.
so, some progress, and a couple of steps back
about 10cm of water and a leak was spotted underneath
and a shot of the surrounds. The 40cm wall will have railings on top, as previously mentioned
some roof pics from the poolside; the wooden wing
the main house
the floor has now been poured for the wooden wing
I am not sure they are sure how the stairs go; I am sure we will all find out soon
the big windows are now all in place upstairs; the gap at the front is a bit bigger than the plans, for some reason! a post was meant to be placed there for effect, not for support but it is too wide. The sides are perfect fits
A neat solution will have to be thought of
tomorrow, they will drain and clean the pool, then it will be ready for sealing when dry. The parquet flooring for the main bedroom is also due to be delivered
No tiling has been done for a while as they are waiting for the wall render and the ceilings to be finished.......
Did they fix the leaks first ??
leaks in a new pool are not good......repairs to leaks in a new pool are even worse.
Only just noticed this thread, fascinating and well done. Too long to read all of it but I saw all the pics, very impressive. Was the total price ever mentioned?
