DrAndy,
I have just painted our house after 10 years, our place is 5 bedroom, go with a good quality paint, there are lots of cheap brands out there, i used dulux this time, the paint alone cost 55,000 baht, and the labour about 25,000, this also included the paint for the wall and railings, the guys painted inside and out, brilliant job.
You have done well on your place, looks big.
no, we wait for 6 months until we return to Thailand!
then we can have some new pics
we will be using Thai paint, TOA
we used it on our present house a few years ago and it still looks good
Coming along splendidly Andy. Looking nice.
Thanks RS
can't wait to get back and fit the place out
When will we see more on this project, Andy?
well Scand, I am delayed a little in London, but hope to continue the building in November, all being wellOriginally Posted by DrAndy
The next phase is building the wooden wing and fitting out the concrete part
Good stuff Andy and I look for the house warming piss-up!
i believe there will be a large supply of smoked ham and sausages.
maybe January, maybe not......
Looking forward to seeing the finished job.....I liked the look of this design muchly
thanks Nawty, as long as the measurement units I used were correct
I don't want to end up like your avatar
Another good project DrAndy. A change from all the cookie cutter houses. Looking forward to the continuation. Hope you are right when you said
“The roof has been finished and guttering put up; the neighbours should be happy”
seems to me the grumbling may continue. Bigger house bigger envy. Maybe not a big thing in Thailand though.
nobody likes change, especially next door
You just have to keep good relations and listen to a few whinges
DrAndy,
When do you think you will be back in Thailand? I think the 6 months are nearly up. I can`t wait any longer to see the finished house.
Cheer johpam
very nice place..coming along..and guess with some hard work put in as well. very pleased for you .having rented at many places in c/mai inner for a number of years..and subsquently ..moved to outer c/mai..for pollution ... noise and traffic reasons which seemed to get worse each year..is it still a viable propostion..to build a house in the city.. finiancally. and health wise .or a outer district ..and if so what district..do you feel is a hot spot..in terms of value for money...well doctor andy.. hope i have not put you in a spot..but giggs is having thoughts of building a modest house in c/mai.... and your very advice would be greatly appreciated thanks
why? because I did not see your post and had other things to get done and.....
anyway, what to answer
I think if you live inside the old city (inside moat area), then the noise and pollution can be not noticeable, as long as you ar down one of the small soi
Where I am at present, near Chang Puak, the worst noise is the neighbours, their dogs, motorbikes, shouting when drunk etc
this new place has very quiet neighbours so should be much better. In addition, being concrete the noise will be a lot less than our present wooden house.
I have reported your post
Inside the moat would be quieter and better than just outside.. Imagine being along one of the main ugly roads like Chang Phuak, Charoen Muang, etc.
I happened to stumble upon Dr Andy's house just walking around the small lanes and they're really nice and quiet. He made a SUPER choice to buy & build there while it's still affordable, relatively speaking.
thanks WLL
yep, it is very quiet, no through traffic at all and very near bars restaurants etc
I am looking forward to completing it
yes i agree with you both to a certain point.. . but the noise din will find you eventually .. in inner c/mai.. one way or another..the other points that i have mentioned ..polluotion and traffic chaos..is already written in stone..please i am in no way of being derogative to you doc..just poking around and asking for second opinions.. to decide which way i shall go.. keep on renting.....buy a condo.. or build....many thanks
