I hope so too as i cant´bring anything with me from here , metal and welding is one of my passions ( i dont mean rust repairs hehe) , maby sounds strange but it´s nice when you see you created some thing , i rather build a house of steel then in wood and concrete really. 555 I worked with metal and airplanes for 11 years btw.

I think i will update with a plasma cutter if they are available in Los?!
Done with making mounts for rear and front axle´s , engine´s etc. with a grinder now. I also like to play with the spraygun , might bring my own , not to heavy!

Problem will be to explain all tools for a thai when i get there so i think i will bring a huge catalog ivé got so i can show pic´s .. but does anyone know where to turn for such stuff in Los?

OK, I will go over there later and take some updates

the tiling is coming on well, the wooden bit also

the neighbour was proved wrong by the government officer! the roof is fine and does not need to be cut back, as long as I put on a gutter so that the rain does not adversely affect him. I was going to do that anyway

he was right about the windows on his side though, so they cannot be opened. I will fit some louvres for airflow and hope in a couple of years time he will have relaxed a bit

    no problem anyway
    I have reported your post

    The landing is progressing, slowly

they are also starting the grouting of the bathrooms

and the pool is being rendered and sealed

the wooden house has the ceiling support beams installed and insulation is being fitted

    slightly clearer!

the support beams for the ceiling should have been following the roof shape, but it was too complicated to achieve. If the roof had been supported by wood, simple, it could have been nailed into directly, but the steel beams need an extra wood layer

    cheers, Danno

anyway, a quick visit this morning showed the guttering crew back again, this time for the wooden house, also for a bit more on the main structure

this is the ground lads and lass, soldering and bending

and the main man fitting the supports

The wooden house is coming on nicely, the roof nearly lined (correctly). The triangular gap will have a vent fitted for airflow

a view across the courtyard to the main house

and looking back to the landing, with big windows

I thought it might be interesting to look around the outside of the house

these pics show how the house is squeezed into the plot

The LHS looking from the road

the rear, with the back door open

and the RHS, which is a bit tight, less than 1 metre in parts

so, just a look at the B&W tiling (not yet grouted) going into the main guest bedroom

and the pool has been nicely squared off with waterproof cement. The secondary waterproofing layer will then be applied next week and there will be a sandwich of resin between them

when the ceiling is done, jump on a ladder after the sun has been on it for hours, mid afternoon and feel the bamboo ply and let me know is the right temperature.

should be, thinking to do like that myself on next build, just wanna be sure.....

without the insulation, it would be the right temperature to cook an egg on

You could spend more on insulation, use a thicker layer, plus use the foil sandwich

this should be OK for what we will be usng the room for, and we have lots of cross ventilation

next, the staircase is being carefully built. A sharp saw is needed

The roof terrace tiling has now started

There will be two large rectangles of quarry tile outlined with turquoise hand-made tiles

The guttering is all up and shiny

and the B&W chequerboard is grouted

the pool is now leakproofed (quicker than expected!), hopefully, so we will have another hydraulic check on wednesday

then we can tile it......we have to decide on colour and design, if any

I used mozaic light green tiles on the last pool and it looks great and have also seen a number of pools finshed with black tiles and am indifferent about the end result. Sexy in the day time but a bit spooky during night hours for my complete liking.

There are also a number of new mozaic tile patterns that looks great in pools and you should investigate what design options they have on sale up your way. It helps to break-up what is normally a boring pool tile pattern.

    Will you have pool lighting?

By the way the house looks great mate.

    True, LT

green or blue seem to be the favourite standards

    mosaic maybe

there should be a couple of lights in there somewhere

and thanks, it is nice to see it all coming together

yeah, should be a good space. It also has the advantage of keeping the house underneath nice and cool. Walking around the rooms on the second floor yesterday was good, not hot at all. The roof cover and the design of the airflow seem to be working well

The stairs in the wooden wing are going up well

the spindles are reclaimed and have a nice effect

they will need to be sanded down by the decorators though

The roof terrace tiling is done

the tilers are good workmen and take a lot of care

These guys are the ones who are putting the decorative moulding around the house. We designed the shape we wanted and they have made up the mouldings

around the top wall of the pool

and around the whole house. They will come back and do a little filling to finish it off

menwhile, the pool is full of water; it looked really inviting in the warm afternoon; I was tempted to jump in

no leaks from the structure. BUT they overfilled the pool so that a lot of water ran into the house - luckily no long term damage was seen

anyway, now they are building a couple of small roofs above the front and back doors

The stairs are being rendered flat and to the same sizes! The stone men will then be along to put the granite treads on. They will also be laying marble in the entrance area and kitchen

We are having to wait on those jobs before the solar water heater can be delivered and installed

That's not good. What happens when a monsoon overfills the pool? It is on the roof right, does that mean the roof leaks?
    Just something to think about.

the water goes out of the overflow pipe in the skimmer box. This has already been mentioned

there is no connection between the roof leaking and the pool, so there is nothing to think about, Tommo
