Nice choice of colour for the granite floor Panthip, taking it up the stairs gives a nice flow. What do you have in mind for a handrail?

Khun Loomie, I think it will be something in your lane of railing but I'm not 100% sure. I have been surprised many times during this building. My wife does not always tell me what she has agreed with the builder. All in all it looks ok I think.

    20.12.08 Day 138 Decoration time

So now they have started on the decorative art work.

The facing stone are being glued on.

The pillars on the front and back are also to be covered by facing stone.

Looks ok, some 3 persons is working with the pillars and 3 persons with the house facade .

And here are the painters waiting for inspiration…. and beer. They asked if they could have beer after the job and necessary tidy up was done. Yes I think it is wise to wait until the job is done. I don’t want any drink-painting on those scaffoldings. They better be sure-footed and steady-handed until the work is done. As you notice they have already messed up on the front water boards.

Yes khun Loomie we are not the captain of ship even if we like to think so. Especially with that clandestine language.

So instead of rocking the boat lets lean back and join the bunch below.

    21.12.08 Day 139

    Then we go again.

I really look forward to visit the warm weather next month.

Let’s take a quick walk through the house.

    Some necessary touch-up.

    Stairs to the second floor.

According my wife the water heater will find its place under the stairs. (That was also news for me today)

View from front to back on the second floor.

From the back balcony and forward.

    Down the stairs again and...

    outside to check the facade.

    It’s looking good.

Now we wait for the top color, the remaining roof work and the balcony railing.

Panthip, Your floors and stairs look absolutely great and that has cheered me up, as having chosen granite floors for our new home, was having some doubts over my decision.

Khun Panthip, the light brown stone facade around the outside of the house midway up and on the columns adds a nice attractive touch. Good choice.

Sounds like you are having a central water heater installed... what's the capacity and to which faucet hook ups?

    Lookin nice.

Beats me mate. I didn't know about this before I mentioned that the small room under the stairs could be nice for storing luggages and the likes.

The wife have to go another round with the builder. As far as I know there are no plumbing or drain under the stairs and it's a bit late to start tearing down the walls and floor to add new pipes.

All the way from the start I have indicated that a potential heater has to be located in a wet room supplied with drainage. I thought this was well understood.

I don't need surprises like that.

Dam it don't they understand plain Norwegian?

    Trim work in second floor.

    A tractor is handy,

when you need to tidy up around the house.

    The final adjustment

    is done by hand.

    So that the plumber

    can do his work.

The soil tank has arrived and waits patiently for its hole.

    Hi Panthip,
The house is looking 'the business', I envy you. You seem to have found a good team of workers there.
I look forward to seeing how the plumber gets over the problem connecting the water heater under the stairs, if he hasn't installed 1st fix pipework there already.
Do not walk beside me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me for I may not follow. Just pretty much leave me the fuck alone!

Khun jaiyenyen, It was never an issue with me to put a heater under the stairs so that idea is luckily abandoned. Now there will be separate heaters for the individual bath and kitchen. Photos will follow asap.

    25.12.08 Day 143

Those steps are a bit too steep so they have to be reworked.

Only a fit person can force those steps. This will be to difficult for mummy.

The facing stone is nearly done. I must say it was quick to cast the sole around the house.

The pipes are from two of the bathrooms.

The door next to the kitchen.

The kitchen door is being installed.

No,no,no, we cannot use those steps. Try again.

The facing stone is coming along.

    26.12.08 Day 144

Finally we got some colour at last. Today they started on the first top layer.

    More doors are installed.

The steps have got a new design.

The new attempt looks much better I think.

And some small steps at the rear side.

    Today's photo:

I think the soil tank is happy with its new environment.

Foundation for the water tank to be installed here.

The first paint round is done.

    The electrical wires are connected.

I’m pleased that I don’t have to connect all that mess.

I have worried about that an now my wife will have a word with the builder. I don't like the idea that the wall might fall down.

I think that wall is sound.
There are a lot of rebar and drainpipes in that wall. The soil was added some 20 years ago so that is well settled. Several heavy vehicles have driven back and forth along that wall during the construction phase. So far no damage done.

The weight of the house is carried by 80 pillars driven 6 meters into the ground.

But anyway we will ask the builder for his opinion.
