Lol... Runker, you make it sound like a royal palace!!

its just a box-standard 2 storey dwelling, my 'humble abode' or it will be when i get there...

I like the idea of either gutter (you and Norton) but for sure that copper is going to be expensive, and it's an added theft incentive for someone to break in and 'borrow'

^ I have the exact same product in a few areas around the house, where it is needed, the quality is very good, don't have it all around the house as great believer in minimizing maintenance and don't want to have to clean guttering out a couple of times or more a year! (or maybe I'm just lazy? )

Leaves will be the least of your problems! The algae and mosquito breeding will keep you busy though!
I prefer what I call the "Singapore" method of rain disposal, not many people have guttering in Singapore as the heath authorities check the guttering regularly to ensure no breeding going on! heavy fine if found! what they do to get around this is let the roof run off into a gutter / drain at ground level, then straight into storm drain, which is more or less what I have done, with just a few pieces of guttering to divert water into the storm drain.

Ohh its the not the leaves that will plug them up but the birds. Thai Myna birds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_myna will make a home in them regularly. I have some of the brown uPVC gutters on a few sections of our house and they filled them up with nests and like pigeons the offspring return to build more. These birds are really smart and keeping them away is not easy. Their nests are dense and loaded with anything they can find. I had a guy come clean mine out and when he pulled the nesting material out it had plastic bags, tree branches, paper etc. After the nest was destroyed 2 days later they were back rebuilding. I had to "Off" them.

No but that would be fun. However I do use my Mavic to inspect the roof and gutters. This is how I saw I had 4 or 5 nests in my gutters even with screens on them.

I hear yah, AP2... if the run off angle is sorted out on the gutters, surely there's no water for the mosquitoes to breed, right?

Maybe is it possible to put some wires down over the gutters following the line of the roof so that the water pushes those leaves straight over the edge? and nests too!?

just thinking out loud which i know can be dangerous...

Hey, JPPR2....which Mavic do you have? I was looking at the Mavic Air which seems to be a very capable piece of kit.

Wrong in theory it should work, but water stays in the joints etc, dust builds up which stops flow of water, its do-able for sure, but something that needs to be kept up with

    Lets build a roof

    Ridge detail

so... after the tiles are complete, and the gable boards are fitted, its time to tie it all together with the concrete ridge and sides.

Of course, K.Pot is a stickler for detail, as shown here:

You remember the wire we saw before? that forms the ridge re-enforcing....

...and of course we need plenty of bamboo to climb round on

Cleaning the cement run off from the tiles

    Ridge is 80% completed

It will be painted white once completed

    Pretty tidy job, I reckon...

Thanks for that, Norton...yes they are both gone now.

She was 91 so had a full life, just not so good right at the end as is often the way.

I hope I get to do even half of what my Mum accomplished in her life time.

Sorry to hear about your dad, and thanks for your support LT

If I know my Mum, shes probably telepathing some instructions to K.Pot as we speak!

(hes looking a bit confused recently)

There's been a lot of good times, and a few amazing times too. Meeting the Queen, and 2 sitting Prime Ministers right up there, but many many more...

Got it in one, David. Also, I got that sense straight away... there is no one above me now...

I knew she was going and in fact, when I was returning from BKK last month, I got the call to come home immediately and luckily was able to catch a flight from Abu Dhabi to LHR.

I made it back in time to have a last afternoon - 4 glorious hours just chatting about everything.

She passed away the next morning.
