Anybody remember Lucky Lukes, the first outdoor bar in Nana, when it still had a car park. That was a great people watching place let me tell ya. Woodstock had the White Rabbit restaurant downstairs and the chef was Kim Fletcher.

^^Lucky Luke's is still there. Had a few medicinal brews in there two weeks ago in the afternoon. Was just sitting there having a beer and watching the show when a ladyboy came swooping in, grabbed a beer off the counter, and broke it over a waitress' head. Waitress went down, and lb fled. Appears to have been some altercation from earlier in the day and the lb finally was drunk or drugged enough to take action. Never a dull moment.
Dam it! I always forget mo Jandels and Kakie socks when I am in ze NaNa!
Was where Rainbow bar (forgot which one) is now located as I recall.Originally Posted by aging one
You get free parking in Nana hotel carpark if you drink in there. Don't think there's a time limit on it either.
exactly and there was also a pharmacy, and a tailor that was Sikh owned for a long time but at the time I am speaking of 20 years ago was sold to and run by a nice Danish guy. Damn the name escapes me at the moments. Lars, Lens, not right...Originally Posted by Norton
Was an incredible place back then. The new kid on the block. 25 baht local spirits, a 15 baht mark up on beer, 50 and 60 baht call drinks, and 200 baht was the cost to walk away with a new friend. It was nice living on Soi 4.
^Pharmacy was on the left side as you enter, about mid-way. It was a nice change from PatPong when it first opened and before it was totally taken over by LB's.
Bingo just a couple of doors away from the tailor heading back.. Just up from there was the restaurant that had great club sandwiches, one of those old half Thai half decent farung food joints. Like HiLite in Siam.
I know I have had a drink with you back then. It was a much smaller world in Bangkok.
Tailor was Raja's I believe. Only restaurant I recall was Swiss. Wasn't really looking for Swiss food. Fur Burgers was my quest.
When the current bar at entrance first opened hardly a soul in it. Sure has done well since.
^Not Raja's. Raja has always been on Soi 4 itself, just to the right of the entrance. Many years ago there was a tailor shop inside on the left side, lower deck. Raja's is still there.
Glad to meet ya airport. It was Matts and he was a great guy. Sadly only lasted a couple of years, drink and distrust of an owner who only sat on his butt. Sadly that was all he was allowed to do. But he had inherited great cutters from the Sikh. Then the end came when the stores and restaurants were leased off. About what? 83 or 84 did the gogos go downstairs first, then a few years later the carpark was closed and the beer bars filled it. Killed it for me. It was then professional. The very early 80's was the hay day as far as I am concerned. No mobile phones was a big key to that. Let me tell you!!
If I remember correctly? i never hung around there that much until the late eighties, (I always prefered Cowboy) sure the shops were still there then, could still park the bike in there then for sure, when Pretty Lady was in the corner spot that was the raunchest bar in Bangkok.
Agree that mobile phones that the girls could afford was a big mistake, back then they all had black hair and no tattoo's!
Better days, I believe........
Last time I saw legs that white there was a label tied to the big toe.
When I moved here I bought 3 mobile phones, 42k baht, 39k baht and 33k baht, weren't no cheapies then, I sold my UK one when I left for about 100 quidOriginally Posted by Airportwo
^ Still remember the first one I bought here, 30 some thousand Baht, left Cowboy on motorbike, drove to where I lived on Soi 4 and it had dropped out of pocket, this was the same day I bought the bloody thing! like a nob I walked up and down Sukhumvit for hours expecting to find it through the tears!
and that Phamacy in the wall! sold me a bottle of Sun Cream for 300bht! some one had added an extra ''O'' to the price with a diffrent coulourd pen, [ mine first time NaNa ] ..............I still go back [ when allowed ]
^ in Nana and Cowboy, most gogo charge 155THB a beer
They know the mugs can't get laid anywhere else! Easy money!Originally Posted by Butterfly
new one opened just down the street opposite hilary bar, just got a red neon 4 on top,no hassle and as good as the other one for people watching, happy hour till 6pm
In my opinion Soi 4 is a conjested shit-hole these days and was far better when there were only a few bars like Jools, The Italian Restaurant and Annies Massage.
What more does a healthy young lad need.
Mate I am out of green, you are talking about when I lived there. 300 meters from Annies on the same side of the street. 2 doors up from the then governor of BKK. Kim was still holding court nightly at Jools.
