Just to make a few people happy I've started this thread a bit early.
The 4th TeakDoor soiree will be held at the Old Dutch on Sukhumvit Soi 23 on Saturday the 28th of October. A few will get there early at around 6pm, but it's up to you what time you get there.
We will have the upstairs room to ourselves. It is airconditioned and smoking is allowed.
The Old Dutch has probably the best range of beers in Thailand. As well as the generic 'lager' beers, it has draught Guinness & Kilkenny as well as a range of bottled Belgian beers.
The food is an eclectic mix of European & Thai. The Thai food is pretty good, but not at street food prices. The European food is usually adequate and I'll try to ensure they don't skimp on the portions.
There are numerous guesthouses on sukhumvit available for around 5 or 600 Baht a night, as well as the TaiPan Hotel just up the road (prolly around 1500 Baht). I have a spare double bed at my place which is over the road from the Old Dutch. Also, there is a limited number of parking spaces available too. Let me know if you need one and I will try to sort it out for you. Anyone is welcome to leave valuables there if they want, and to come back for coffee if you don't feel the need to go down the Soi to find a bed warmer.
If anyone wants me to book anything, just PM me and it will be done.
It seems likely that one or two will arrive on Friday, so I think there will be a few beers drunked then. Maybe pop down to the Suan Lum night bazaar as both guys & gals will find something to do here.
On Sunday it seems likely that we will go somewhere for a picnic, before those who flew down need to get off to the airport. I presume that Don Muang will still be in use, rather than the new one, so maybe the park at Chatujak would be a good place (thanks Lily)? If people are using the new airport, I will think of somewhere closer to it.
Is that clear enough?
