The strange thing was that it had been clear in the morning but there was a strong breeze and it had broken lots of clumps away from the bank until they formed a solid carpet of 90% hyacinth mixed with edible pak boong.

The Ta Jin river winds north until it meets the Chao Phrya around Chai Nat , Uthai Thani area. Love to charter a slow sleeper boat up it one day. Possible but pretty expensive and rarely done. Talking to the old folk in the riverside Chinese village they told us that when they were growing up on the river in their youth it absolutely teemed with boats at work on the river. Very few roads back then so this was an important highway in days gone by.

Another nice trip could be to go south on Ta Chin to MahaChai/Samuth Sakhon
and then go NE on some canals and pop out in Chao Praya not far from Sathorn.

There is also a straight East-West canal between Ta Chin and Chao Praya,
starts 1 or 1,5 km south of Samuth Sakhon Centre and enters Chao Praya
2-3 km north of the mouth.

Shouldn't take more than a day (during daylight) with a fast boat (like mine).

Along one of the canals going NE from MahaChai there is a temple worth
visiting. The chief munk is a collector of cars and the temple grounds are
packed with old and not so old cars. (Mostly Mercs from 50s 60s and 70s)
Some of the cars are actually in pretty good shape (from the looks of it).

Alas, I have forgotten/lost both the name of the relevant klong and the temple.
