Anyway, rider weight, gearing and rev range would have an affect. I reckon the only way to settle this is a good old fashioned street race.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

I don't even have a bike anymore. Unless I can convince CMN to lend it back to me...
But meh, if Marmite wants to believe that his bike would beat a VFR then it's no skin off my nose. A confluence of objective fact and reality is against him though.
My money is on the VFR 400
With me on the VF750 and Noony on the VFR400, you're probably right.Originally Posted by Rigger

Isn't your VF like 28 years old though?

Motorcycle gang linked to shooting

SAMUT PRAKAN : A motorcycle racing gang is suspected of involvement in two attacks which left one man dead and four others injured.
In defiance of the law, racers and their girlfriends ride around on souped-up motorcycles at night, turning streets of the province into a race track. Police say they can do little to stop them.
Backed by an influential figure, gang members have started using weapons, police believe.
Early on Nov 8, gunmen sprayed bullets at a construction company based at Soi Bang Na Demonstration School on Theparak Road in tambon Bang Pla in Samut Prakan's Bang Phli district.
Atthawat Dankit-yingyong, 49, the company owner, was shot and succumbed to gunshot wounds on his way to hospital.
Banluesak Talhakit, 32, a construction engineer, and Warawut Mueankachorn, 23, another employee, were injured.
Nirut Dankit-yingyong, Atthawat's son, said the company had held a staff party that evening.
About 20 motorcycle racers attacked him and his friends at the mouth of the soi as the party was ending.
He said Sunisa Luenphoklang, 19, his girlfriend, and Thanapat Kerdpollarb, a friend, were attacked by the gang.
Another 30 racers joined in and blocked the entrance of the soi. Some fired guns into the air, Mr Nirut said.
He called police and the gang dispersed. Thanes Talhakit, a guest at the party, said the racers returned soon after and opened fire at the house.
Pol Col Chainarong Somproh, Bang Phli district police chief, said the assailants may not have been motorcycle racers. The attack might have involved a personal conflict between Mr Nirut and his rivals. On Nov 10, 100 police searched a village of tambon Bang Pla. Suspects were arrested and a handgun seized.
Noppadon Joraka, 28, one of the suspects, turned himself in to police later the same day. Mr Noppadon told police that he and his friends fell into a fight with Mr Nirut and his friends on Nov 8. Mr Noppadon said he shot at them before making his escape.
Police said a second suspect, Lersak Romalee, fired into the house.
Local people said the motorcycle gang, known as Gang 786, comprises Muslim youngsters backed by an influential local figure.
The gang leader is a Muslim man called Bang Wut.
The motorcycle gang is the biggest in the province with hundreds of members and is linked to drug trafficking, local people said.

Great thread FP ! Wish I had been there !
I just been by chance to a small gathering once when coming back home late, near (1:30am), near Bang-seu train station. The speed these bikes reach really was impressive. Especially with the riders not looking at the road, but like inside their gas tanks !!!
Had the displeasure of bumping into about 15 of these (or their wannabes at least) doing some 'training' along the highway off Rama IX. First it was 3 little buffaloes coming up against the speeding traffic along the highway wall, there wasn't any hard shoulder. They're coming the wrong way along the inside lane with everybody going the correct way at 120kmph. Then along a hard shoulder gap there was about 15 of them squeezed in there, then all of a sudden the 3 buffaloes go screaming past on their tiny rice rockets in between and millimeters away from all the moving traffic. Definitely the most dangerous driving I've ever seen. And all in shorts and t-shirts, of course no helmets. And have no doubt that any driver who beeped at them or gave them shit would of been hunted down and severely hurt.
The sooner a truck maims them all as they sit in that bit of hard shoulder the better for everyone.
