    Ping Pong Shows

Well I got a mate coming over on Friday with his gf, first time in bkk and being the classy guy that he is wants to see a ping pong show. His gf wants to visit the floating market but he scrapped that idea because it's an early start.

But he's gotta go to a ping pong show or he's gonna go home a disappointed man.

Last time I went to a show like this was when I first got here many moons ago in Chiang Rai, and I know Patpong still has them but it's not an area I know that well these days and I know there's a lot of dodgy bars there.

Now I don't wanna be dealing with some dudes that are demanding 500 baht a beer at the end of the show so is there any good ping pong show places that are known for not ripping off customers? Like the King's castle group of something?

Any recos would be much appreciated as I only know temples and places of cultural interest in Bangkok.

^ In fact it is probably a better forum to ask the question on because a lot of tourists there who have visited these places recently.

Shame the topic will disappear in about two seconds though.

Perhaps I could disguise it somehow? Ask after erotic art shows in city?

^ You could tell them that this is research for a planned segment of the opening ceremony for the upcoming Bejing Olympics, what with table tennis being a Chinese thing and all

Yes King Castle the one next to 711 on the Silom side of Patpong still does show of these kinds. Go up the stairs, it looks friendly with nice stairs. Don't go anywhere else. However upstair, place is crapy and horrible girls.

Take him Rainbow 4, more friendly, nice music, safe, and his gf might be more happy. He might not though and might have a urge to go buy cigarettes in the middle of the night.

To be honest I knew Butterfly was the man to answer this one so was waiting for him to come along! Cheers Butterfly.

The King's castle I know is an ok establishment, didn't know if they still did the ping pong shows though. Maybe go to rainbow instead coz always had a good time at the plaza in those places.

    Thanks very much.

I suggest Long Gun bar on Soi Cowboy. If Patpong is your thing, I think its Kings Castle 2 (upstairs place on the left side o Patpong when waking from Silom to Surawong. The girls in Patpong are hopeless, Long Gun late at night is the best bet for such stuff .

Long Gun has shows? I didn't think they had any at the cowboy.

Indeed, although I cannot recall ping pong balls but everything else, and the girls were slightly more attractive than the old tarts at KC. Baccarra on Cowboy also has shows several nights of the week, but never saw ping pong balls there either.

You should also try Angel Witch at Nana, as they have lesbian shows (better than other kind of shows) at 10:00pm and 11:00pm and 12:00am with great music and all kind of nice girls going around. Your mate will like that and so his gf. I took many "normal" guests and "newbies" there and they were always happy. Not far from there, you can finish the evening at Cascade, maybe as a bit of curiosity for your mate gf, she would love it. Make sure your mate doesn't barfine one though with his gf

They do but they are lame and the girls are tired and not enjoying it. They have been doing it for years. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Great for a last drink after a night out for catching the last drunken bargirls.

The lesbian shows sound better for a bit of erotic entertainment, but knowing how my mate's mind works, he just wants to enjoy the pure comedy of watching an Asian girl fire ping pong balls out of her nether regions. The Bangkok experience!

I think Patpong will probably be better for them, newbies in Thailand and all that everything will be a good buzz for them. A tourist attraction in itself.

So this looks like the winner so far.

Much as I hate to go there, I always take newbies to Patpong. They love to buy the fake purses, watches, etc.. In fact, one of the purse ladies is just below King's Castle, and took us to her private stockroom up those same stairs mentioned before. Yeah, I saw two of those upstairs clubs up there, and suspect they do the ping pong shows there.

Not taking anyone shopping at Patpong, rip off prices. And if you do get a good price then it takes too much haggling first which I just can't be bothered with these days. But yeah they will love to look around at that kind of stuff.

The girl at Long Gun in Soi cowboy shoots the paper darts to burst balloons. In my opinion a far superior show to the ping pong balls.... Show is around 10 pm i think...

True, the darts shows I have seen are good. First time I saw one was in Chiang Rai, I took a dart and stuck it in my pocket as a souvenir. I later remembered the high AIDs rate in the region and was too scared to take it out in case it pricked me.

The dart/ballon act may be enough for my ping pong obsessed friend!

they are made of paper or foil so no big threat of that. However, once in Long gun I observed a spent dart fall into some ones gin and tonic...
Thinking about it though, the girls use a little tube - a kind of blow pipe - and I think the dart is just placed in there and hence may not come into direct contact with ..... stuff

    Patpong is awful

I took my daughter there a couple of years ago, to see the pingpong, darts and that stuff show, to Cleopatra, I think

I made sure that the beer price was B100, as advertised, I made sure that there was no entry charge etc. Once there, we ordered our drinks, correctly priced and watched the show. A woman then came up and demanded B150 each for tickets. We refused, she got stroppy. I said we were going to leave, and she could keep her drinks. She got more stroppy but had to back down eventually.

the show was bad, the atmosphere worse and the girls very ugly

not like it used to be, eh?
    I have reported your post

How did it go bkkmadness? manage to catch any ping pong balls? . A mate went to one of these shows a few years back and I'm sure he said they were popping darts out and he got hit in the arm or leg. Knowing him he would have been standing close as possible.

Went to the Kings Caste place, it was pretty shit. The show was drab and boring. The girls and the mamasan kept hassling for tips and lady drinks before any show had come on which pissed me off. Don't mind being asked once but when someone stands in front of you with their hand out saying 'you tip me, I bring drinks' repeatedly and not moving for 5 mins (no bullshit) it just takes the piss.

Luckily I am cold hearted enough to not care about this but was quite happy to give the three girls who performed in the show 100 baht each as they worked hard and didn't at any point ask for tips.

It was all the hangers on around the bar hat were annoying, from mamasan to drinks girl to stand around a pole without so much as a smile girl.

Most of the girls there were well past there sell by date, 40 yr olds, stretch marks, the usual mess.

Annoyed to get the 200 baht for a show card pulled out on me before it started as well but after I'd ordered the first drink as well, but that was my fault coz I didn't check first.

Overall a very crap experience with your typically very rude Patpong people.

I think my mate was expecting a ping pong show like he saw in 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' and I did warn him he would be bored and now he knows I was right.

Saying that no major rip offs probably because of Butterfly's recommendation, my friends were happy to see it, and once again I am reminded to avoid Patpong go go bars for as long as possible. Only in there for a couple of drinks anyway so didn't ruin the night and we had a few drinks and a decent Mexican afterwards.

Not taking anyone else to a ping pong show ever again.

Yep I maybe should have but I was worried that there would not much to be seen once the show was over and Patpong is good for that what with the market and everything. We was only at the show for an hour anyway so it wasn't so bad really, and they got to see one of the more touristy areas of Bangkok.

They are loafing in Samui at the moment.

As a general rule of thumb, avoid anywhere with touts outside trying to lead people in. Also avoid 2 bars called "Super Pussy" and "Pussy Collection": both pull the old 300 Baht beer trick. Other than that, Patpong's still a very grim place, would never go again unless absolutely necessary.

You'd have saved money and had a better time by bussing down to Pattaya. Bangkok's good mongering days are basically over.
