Any recommendations in the 'Toys r Us' style? Would like to find children's scooters (those modern lightweight, fold up ones), and a qualitiy train (e.g Hornby) set, maybe hotwheels and subutteo. Cheers

Try Toys R Us.... there's one in Central World. You might find the scooter, doubt you'd get the other stuff though.
Ta, will do. Don't know Bangkok too well but Central World's in Lad Prao isn't it?
Big Toys 'R' Us on Rama 4. opposite end of Sukhumvit Soi 24 (or 26) can't remember

Robinsons in also OK for toys, as is the Mall.
Basically every shopping centre will have something, but they are not cheap.
small toys r us at carrefour lad prao
most centrals ave toy departments
generally here is not the best
Know this area, near the world trade centre, innit, so will go there when I fly back next month. All the kids here in Portsmouth have these lightweight small wheeled scooters with adjustable handles. Went out of fashion for years but now they're out doing skateboards and rollerskates around here...^cheers for the feedbackOriginally Posted by Gordon Brown

Yup, they renamed the World Trade Centre as Central World. If you are in the UK you might as well buy the toys there and bring them with you. The selection in Thailand is not great. Just compare the Thai and the UK websites to see what i mean...Originally Posted by pompeybloke

Do a search for train on the UK website and you'll get 230 hits... the Thai website has 5.
Good luck. We looked at Toys R Us in Central World about 2 weeks ago for daughter's birthday present. They didn't have anything in the way of scooters although they did have some nice little bikes. We ended up buying a scooter at the toy section in Central Chidlom (6th floor) just down the road (attached to the Chidlom BTS station).
