there's a new(ish) covered overpass from petchaburi (MRT) to makkasan station on the airport link.

takes less than 5 minutes to get from one to the other.

That is not a turnstile, that is a fucking barrier, wish I could get a closer look at the symbol. No people? That photo is unbelievable.

The airport link stops at Payathai skytrain station.

    We've been through this already.

Cy jai yen yen I am saying that the skytrain stations and the Airport link stations dont meet. I have been corrected that there is now a covered skybridge.

    What is your point?

    Phrayathai, would be correct.

Just that it's incorrect when you said the airport link does not connect with the BTS or the skytrain.

It does connect to the skytrain, and has done for years. At Phayathai station.

If I remember correctly we had a similar exchange about this before and you had one of those short tempered senior moments to which you seem to be becoming increasingly prone.

My 'jai' is chilled just fine, thanks.

    No.

    Phayathai or Payathai is correct.

    No 'r'.

    Cheers.

    it was?

I did it last week as I always did.... like most airports it was a two story vertical journey with a short walk to the lifts at either end.

And yes, these turnstiles have been installed as asked.

I guess the taxi mafia below were fed up of the fact that so many people were by-passing them.

Next time I'll go via the car park.
Yep they hate it when they get out-smarted at their own con ..

What's the "taxi mafia" people keep talking about? All the taxis you get at the airport are regular metered taxis, once you get dropped off they continue on getting fares in town. They're not owned or affiliated with the airport. The only difference is that you pay 50 THB extra and get a receipt with the taxi's details on.

No there are thousands of touts and black plate drivers who are allowed access to arrivals and "poach" the passengers before they even get out to the taxi rank. No meters and many problems.

Thousands? Hardly any now, if at all. I can't remember the last time one approached me, and no-one else I know has mentioned seeing one recently. Maybe a few slip through here and there, but if this is the "mafia" you speak of, those turnstiles will hardly be put in to help them, as they have been trying to get rid of them for ages (and seem to be pretty successful).
