I give her 5 weeks holidays per year, fully paid, when I am away in France for the summer.

the locals make their maids work 24/7, so she is on a good deal, and she knows it. Some locals were complaining I was paying her too much and give her too many holidays, destroying the labor market. They might have a point.
I don't give a shit how many holidays you allow the simple matter of the fact is you are in breach of the Thai Labour Act.

Errrrr hello dickhead, where did I say I go to work without my work permit ?

Incase you had not noticed it is the weekend (Sunday the 17th of March to be exact). I carry my passport (and work permit, they are in the same carry pouch) in my work bag to and from work each day and as it is the weekend it sits in my safe.

I think this is a fine detail Butters. So long as you have a WP and comply with its terms the Labour Department aren't likely to deport anyone for keeping it somewhere safe. If there is a penalty it would probably be ThB 500 or so.

probably not, but since Fondles is into strict "Labor laws", I thought it would be nice to remind him he is probably in some kind of violation himself.

    Back and forth everyday?

You're a moron or completely naive just waiting to have it all lost or stolen and all the grief that comes from trying to replace documents like that in Thaiand.

Mine is with the lawyers. It saves time if we need any changes. If someone isn't happy with that then I have their card. I just keep a copy.

Why, for calling Butters out on illegally exploiting unskilled workers coz he can't bend up and pick up his own undies and throw them in the washing machine?

Lmao yeah the risk of a car jacking (cause that's the only method for my documents to be stolen during my daily commute) is massive ain't it. fuckin idiot.

I also provide private health insurance.

I let my stuff do facebook, youtube etc, within reason, and of course as long as the job is done, and also depending on position.

I don't provide ealth care though.

Eric, let's be clear on this. Butters has never run anything. I doubt he can run tap water into the tub without asking someone how. The guy is a socialist and that ought to speak volumes for what he thinks pay should be.

I think you are a bit to naive to think this is high, it's simply normal

growth and inflation is high here, and it's easy not to take them into account

I know for a fact, because I get to see many many applicants work history/salary etc, that your estimations are high.

I assume you base your estimation on statistics, and not first hand experience?

Do not want to stir up a heated argument, and I am the first to admit I have trouble.

Our maid gets 4k per month and free room and board and is with us 24 /7. She works hard and is very happy to live in a nice home with air, TV and internet.

She came to us and asked us to hire her. She has no family to speak of and she is the one that suggested the pay of 4k. Her bonus is the free room and board, and getting most of the housework done in a couple of hours so she can relax and enjoy the satellite TV, internet, air nonconducting, a real bed, furniture, hot water, a nice home, the garden, real food etc.

That explains everything - I thought for a minute you might be guilty of exploitation!

I wonder what would have happened if she suggested "10k" hmmm

She did not, so there is no need to what if anything.

The first job I got I never asked what the pay was. In fact, I toild my boss to pay me what I was worth. He liked it and I moved up in the company right away. I do not believe in minimum wage mandates set by politicians who never owned a business. I never have. I hired the best workers and paid them the best wages in town. They were all happy.

That said, this girl is very happy. She considers us family and we feel the same about her. We are talking about paying for her to finish her education.
