If you are already in the Chinatown area around Yaowarat buying gold for your tee rak , you might as well go the whole hog and take a short walk to Klong Tom market for some more macho shopping.

Head up towards the Thanon Suapa ( jungle tiger ) until you see Suapa Plaza.




If you are a mobile phone geek , this shop will appeal to you. Nothing but mobile phone covers and other accessories on several floors. Full of shoppers , local and foreign loading up on cheap stuff to flog on the internet or at other markets in Bangkok.










Moving along Charoen Krung road and heading west , you come to the junction at Mahachak. Turning left hear will take you to Wat Chaichana




Along the road outside you'll bump into vendors selling all sorts of electrical goods and tools.





Crossing Charoeng Krung road and continuing along Mahachak theres more of the same



If you are looking for tools , both new and old , expensive or cheap , this is the place to come. When I was looking for a plane to trim down a couple of new doors I was hanging, I got a cheap electric plane from China here for only 500 baht. Cheapest I saw anywhere else was a couple of thousand baht. O.K. , Chinese tools are crap , but this plane did the job no problem and I handed it on to one of Ms Bangyais relatives so they were happy too ( for a while )







As for socket sets ........ hurt yourself




Amongst all these tools you will see lots of spivs selling accessories for your
' special tool '. These blokes just open a case and sell from it, ready to do a runner should the police turn up




Moving along you come to the bank of the Klong Thom Centre.




So many pornographic CD's on display you wouldn't think it was against the law.




Although they don't mind you looking at the merchandise they don't like you taking pictures ................ but you get the idea. Turn right into Klong Thom centre and there is more







Moving along I saw a pretty girl selling this interesting gadget




Pop the old chap in the open end ( lube up first I guess ) turn on , and get your dentures rattled. I must admit I was more than a bit curious but didn't have the cash or the balls to make the purchase. Still, any other TD members are welcome to buy and try and pm me a review.

I should also mention that a lot of the sex toy vendors also have catalogues of stuff the dare not display, right upto the latest dolls from Japan . Seem to be plenty of punters too, which is a bit strange given that this is Thailand. Dito for the sex CD's. Clearly, a lot of the locals have never heard of xhamster etc.

Moving into the car accessory part of Klong Thom centre I found what I was looking for




Loads of radios with bus ports. Already got on for the car but not loud enough and only has a rechargeable phone battery.







Eventually found what I wanted. A smallish retro wood and chrome looking radio with a USB port and mains lead as well as standard batteries. Perfect for holiday trips and great to use in the car as well.

So.....mission accomplished time to head out of the market




Leaving Klong Thom Centre by the front entrance this is the view to look out for.







From here , I just walked back to the Democracy monument via Worachak and Romaneerart Park.

To be honest, these are not very good pictures....too non descript. I kept taking my camera along with me hoping to get more interesting pictures but either the battery would go flat or I would be too tired to bother. What the thread doesn't really show is how vast the porno CD market is or how many car accessories are available here. For the adverage bloke it is a real Aladdins cave and well worth a wander around

pirom plaza, (coordinates: 13°44'43"N 100°30'11") is a small shopping mall on mahachai, between charoen kreung and yaowarat, that is home to dozens of small photography shops. good for toys and hobbyists too that mall.

they deal in new and second hand equipment, and will buy old cameras and lenses.

on the bridge over the khlong near yaowarat soi 35 are some outdoor market stalls that sell second hand photographic equipment, cameras, lenses, the lot.
