I ended up taking a taxi to Saphan Kwai 220baht. I got it from the rank so I had to pay an extra 50 baht on top of that so the total was 270. No problems. Thanks for the info.

Why would you ask a Thai forum about Vegas taxis?

See some idiot bumped this, however I will follow up on this as I meant to post and it slipped my mind.

About 2 months ago I was on a buisness trip with my secretary. We flew back into Don Muang and got a taxi from the proper booth at the airport. My first mistake was letting my secretary do the tallking - she took the two slips, and as she seldom uses taxis from the airport - gave BOTH slips to the taxi driver without me realizing (one should be for him, one you keep -but taxi drivers LOVE to get hold of this second one as well as you then don't have the info to complain).

Anyway, to cut a long story short - the trip was at well over double the normal fare - I noticed as we got near to our destination (a good way from the airport). Looking at the meter, there was a towl on it, folded down so that the top displays (time and distance) could not be seen - only the fare.

When we got to our destination I asked to see the distance to be told "No hab kilo", when I argued I got told in no uncertain terms "No HAB"!! My secretary strongly suggested at that point to walk away - which we did. I then of course asked for the second slip - only to be informed at that point that she had given them both to the driver at the start.

The meter was clearly bogus or had been fixed. Quite pissed off that I took a proper taxi through the proper route and still go shafted....
