I went through outbound immigration at Suvarnabhumi a few days ago.
Glad to report they seem to have fixed the problem, there was no queue at all. Zero wait. They had 10+ booths open (combined Thai/Foreign passport), with a common line to avoid delays.
Walked through in under 5 minutes. The exact same queue (same flight out) took well over 40 minutes two months back with a huge snaking line.
Not sure about inbound, will find out soon, but I imagine that ought to be better as well.
Thais like to throw out excuses, deny responsibility and rarely try to fix problems preemptively (taking initiative is frowned upon here). However, they do tend to fix problems reasonably quickly once a big-enough stink is raised in public.
One hour delay at the baggage carousel last week.
And another thing. Why do they insist on taking some many fucking photographs? Apart from the cost, this is mostly a complete waste of time, especially on the way out. They have 10 photos of me from the last six months, I haven't aged that badly.
I suppose it is all about the "new" style passports that have all the info they need that can be scanned into their systemOriginally Posted by Mr Earl
if you still have the older type, then that system cannot work
Went to Singapore last December and they were still using entry/depature cards.
Malaysia did away with the cards back in 2008 or so then started using them again in 2010.
Have they stopped again? I know they have the macs system for long term visa holders and Singaporeans, but that requires you to apply and get an rfid sticker in your passport.

I used a company called DTR was greeted straight of the plane nice big sign with my name on.Was taken through the VIP channel cost 500 baht escorted to limo took me to sukhumvit cost 900 baht.I was in a rush for a change from plane to limo took around 10 minutes as always nice long walk,no one in the VIP channel limo took 30 minutes to get me home over all well worth the money avoid queues and a lot of walking.
Thats only the second time in 15 years i have used a limo will use the company again if only for the 500 baht vip channel.
n&j,
why would you want your spouse entering Thai with her non-Thai passpost?
my spouse has been utilizing her US passport of 15 years now when traveling everywhere except for when entering and exiting Thai. easier, no visa /requirements/restrictions, and like you say, I get to use the Thai line with her when it is a lot less busy.....
