Thanks Lobster - glad you enjoyed it. I can't wait to get back home and check out some of those water falls.
Travelling down highway 2 on saturday arvo and usually you see some interesting things, cute babes on the side of the road, trucks in ditches, cars rolled over, pushbike mangled, buses ripped open......but on saturday I saw a little yellow helicopter on a trailer.
It looked like an R22 but not, kinda squashed and distorted.
Closer inspections and it had a flimsy looking 4 blade tail rotor, similar main rotor to Robo, but it had a turbine engine. Cyclic controls the same as Robo as in the T bar setup.
Pilot said it was made in Thailand.....I said 'huh'....turns out he meant 'put together' in Thailand.
It had 'highway police' stickers on the side of it and a very worrisome huge 'experimental' sticker on the front.
Pilot looked expendable and not long for this earth.
Could not understand the make of it though, he did say not expensive and the first one in Thailand and they are based in Korat, so me thinks I will go and pay them a visit......when he found out I was a pilot he started to talk business and teaching !!!!!!
He said he had a friend in Oz named Mark. I said 'Mark'.....yes yes he said, my friend Mark, do you know Mark in Australia....I said yes I know a mark, but there are a few of them, so not sure same one though.
Got a pic of it, will put up later.
I like poisoning my neighbours dogs till they die cos I'm a cnut
Sounds interesting for sure - I would come to korat to have a look as well. Hurry up with that picture!
Nawty, MM,
The Thai Army used to operate about 45 of the Schweizer 300 ( formally Hughes 300 ) in an initial Pilot training Role. I believe that this is the chopper you saw. Made in Thailand, No, but definately assembled here, it would be a hell of a ferry flight from th USA to here in one of them!!
Not a Hughes 300, flown one enough to know it upside down....
Nearly had one upside down once....ground resonance however ya spell it is a bitch...
ere tis
Go here Nawty. loads of vid clips
That bloke is standing a little too close considering it is an experimental flight.
I wonder what one of those cost to buy and run?
I shall find out.
Would be a nice little commuter between my place and the farm.....all across Khao Yai national park, from north to south.
What did you find out Nawty?
Here is another pic of a new spot discovered on the weekend.
I love choppers, they are so powerful.
Flew over siem riep in the kiwi chopper a few years ago-it was great.
We swooped over an army base complete with old soviet tanks-i was the door gunner.
It was great.
Whats a kiwi chopper ?
Have not found out anything yet MM, not been to Korat yet....
