Yes the subject of my car. Toyota Camry SV21 1992 wagon executive 2 liter motor. 260k on the clock.

Had it from 94 Ex Coke reps car cost 15k at the time 100k on the clock, fully serviced up log books and shit.

That car has taken me all over the flat, never broke down, never stopped. When it comes to my toys I keep them in top shape, fully serviced at the correct intervals oil and filters changed religiously at 5k, brake fluids, auto trans fluids, radiator fluids all done and dusted.

People do take the piss because I keep that car but it does every thing I want it to do and its totally faithful like your old dog. I bought the van to suit that car hence the 550kg tare weight of the van, car tows it a piece of piss.

I got the coin and if I want to go buy a brand new fok off 4 wheel drive I can but that wont happen simply because i don't need it and don't do off road outback camping. Its black top and minor tracks that I bang down and the old SV shits it in.

That car usually sits unused as I'm using my bike when I'm local and live 4K away from my work so the SV gets dragged out only when its needed which aint that often. Always travelling Overseas as well so another reason I don't need a new flash car sitting around doing fok all.

Don't have much need for a car but it will be getting a bit more use now that I got that van.

I reckon that car will last me many more years as the running gear and motor are superb, just replaced all the shocks and fitted an auto trans cooler, motor is in top condition as when it runs it don't do short stop start trips, many times I'll knock out a 1000k non stop heading up north to Coral Bay or down South to Albany .

Actually I'm cutting all the rust out of the vehicle when I get back as I plan on keeping it.

Big 4 wheel drives and new cars are useless unless your actually using them.

Dead right there mate, cars are that cheap these days that to try and sell it would be a joke. 50P actually is talking it up.

Very good move. Have done it myself....it massively lengthens the gearbox life. The original setup is trying to cool hot transmission oil by running it through hot cooling system water. Which is just nuts, since those Camrys normally run at a hot temp.
Maybe ok in Japan.
Says a lot about robustness of the gearbox that you're towing with an automatic. Take it easy though, mate.

Can't think how i missed this cracking thread! I have never seen a camper like that before, it would have done me a great service, back in my rock festival years. I have never made it to Oz either, but you have made me more than a little jealous. Thanks for sharing all those great pictures!

An outdoor camp would have make your stay even more comfortable. Just a thought but when we were planning a trip with friends, did packed camps and that day was pretty much amazing. Had a lot of fun.
