Jimi Hendrix was once asked what it was like to be the world's greatest guitar player. His answer was, "Go ask Rory Gallagher."

^ All wicked mate. Nice one.
I was listening to Neil Young and thinking to myself, shit, now we are on the other side ;-)
Oh so much brilliant stuff on this thread, Neil Young etc. but today Mathew I have revisted my younger days with Quadrophenia, fukuing brilliant in all its forms.
'I'm being pushed down, I'm being pushed round'. brilliant rock opera if you haven't heard it by now.

As a youth I saw Rory live in Bristol, seventies and he was/is the most brilliant guitar player till now.
Hear 'Tattoed Lady', he does it almost like rolling a cigarette without any effort.
His autopsy said it was liver damage due to tablets through fear of flying ?, strange but what a player.
He could as well have replied "Go ask Duane Allman"

These guys (especially Gene and Paul) are dinosaurs, but they're not just sitting on stools strumming acoustic guitars.. They're rocking out!
Now are the songs infantile in construction and endlessly repetitive in the chorus? OF COURSE it's idiot proof rock and roll! I mean, WTF do you want?
Paul once said, "If you can't sing along by the second chorus the song is too fucking hard!"
Ages; Gene-64, Paul-62, Eric (replacement 4 Peter)-56, Tommy (replacement 4 Ace)-53.
Notice how much they mime for the mobile phones recording the concert in the audience, AND how many fucking guitar picks they have taped to their guitars and on the mic stands!
Interestingly enough now they sell the pics they didn't throw out at each concert. The guitar pics have the date and name of the city on them! You can even by a book where you collect all the pics from each tour, (like I used to do as a kid with penny's in the US).
Leave it to Gene (marketing genius that he is) to think of how to wring a buck outta something they'd just hafta throw away.
Say what you want, those old guys still ROCK!
