Seen the Ig a few times live. (Unfortunately, never with the original Stooges). As you said, how he's still alive (still fit, healthy, and wealthy) is amazing, considering he was considered washed up and a hopeless junkie as far back as 1971.. I think David Bowie saved his life and career, by producing "Raw Power" and his following 2 solo albums in 1977, when punk was breaking big and Iggy got the recognition he deserved.
The first 3 Stooges elpees are primordial rock 'n roll, and Iggy is probably it's embodiment as a performer. This is probably the greatest rock record ever made, and even the crap recording can't stop it;
