They were, as trite as it sounds, more than a band to me when I was a teen. 9.15 on is pretty much how I remember growing up in Manchester in the 80s and 90s although it's changed a lot since then.
^Yep. Just listening to a lot of the Smiths stuff again lately. Shame they broke up so early (and acrimoniously), but how much great music did they make in just a few years.? No filler at all, even their B-sides were tremendous.
