I wasn't aware John Fusciante played guitar with Jane's Addiction.Originally Posted by Milkman

Been Caught Stealing.
The only track by them I like.
Never really got into them, too main stream in my opinion.
Frusciante never played guitar with Janes Addiction.
Dave Navarro has always been the JA guitaist and had an ill fated spell with the Chilli Peppers, he never had the chemistry to do that job.
The only time I ever saw them and thought they were shit was with Navarro.
Not sure I'd call JA main stream, the modern day Chilli Peppers are far more main stream that JA ever have been.

I would consider JA a decent band playing a particular style of music no better than many other bands playing that particular stream of music. I never particularly liked Navarro's style of guitar playing even when he sat in for Fusciante whilst he was away from the RHCP.Originally Posted by Bobcock
The Chilli Peppers created their own style when Hillel Slovak was still with us and Fusciante took over the reigns and really made the band what it is today.
Yes their music is far more commercial then what it was around the Mothers Milk and Blood Sugar days (not to mention their earlier albums) but they still retain that unmistakable unique sound booming out from 3 of the best musicians ever Frusciante, Flea and Chad Smith.
"Ooh Baby, I know about war, but I just wanna fuck.
I know about pain and suffering and being cold, but I just wanna fuuuuuuuck."
Janes is one of my all time faves. Thanks Milky.
Anybody remember the RHCP show at Impact in 2002? Great concert, surprising number of encores as I recall.
The band were great, but the sound was so bad where we were there were times you couldn't hear what song they were playing.Originally Posted by robuzo

I love Navarro in JA, but in the Chilli Peppers he just looked like a posing freak. He just couldn't play JF's songs with the same passion. He was like a stuck up super model trying to do Lek's shift in Angel Witch.
I must say I didn't know that JF had left the band again....over a year ago.
Ritual de lo Habitual from Jane, is a staple of the '90s.....From the first track to the last, it is an amazing album. Although Dave Navarro is a pompous garden gnome, the synergy within the band is amazing, the rhythm section, wild solos and riffs with Perry Farrel's stellar voice. All of this makes it a unique experience.
I do agree, that when Navarro joined RHCP, it was the worst album for the band. John Frusciante is a very hard act to follow, no matter how good you are.
Yep maybe I was being a bit harsh on Navarro as I was so against where he was trying to take the Peppers when he was with them.Originally Posted by pluto
JF is the man as far as I am concerned and I still am in awe about the musical contribution he made on Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik and whilst being still quite young and new to the band. In fact I don't believe he has ever hit those genius heights again.
They say those 7 years locked away free-basing crack cruelled his playing genuis but the continued musical partnership with Flea and Chad Smith make up for anything he lost with regard to his exceptional guitar playing skills.
Be interesting to see who they replace him with on a full time basis.
I listened to One Hot Minute again today after the discussion and I must say it wasn't as bad as I remember it, but still probably their worst album ever.
I hated seeing them live with Navarro though, somehow leather trousers does not a Chilli Pepper make.
My favourite song of that album and a great bass riff by our Flea.
They sometimes only ever wore socks mate!Originally Posted by Bobcock
As I have heard the last time they toured there was a 5th member (guitarist) who is a good buddy of Fusciante and he may replace him and if John has retired from the band. He is also involved with many other projects and I bet we get one more album out of the Peppers with Fusciante playing on the album but not touring.Originally Posted by Bobcock
People forget the Chilli Peppers have been around for almost 3 decades and we don't want them turning into the Rolling Bones!
They have been recording a new album since October without him.
He officially left the band in late 2008 so the report I read said, but just never announced it.
Yes I read the same report and he has been replaced by Josh Klinghoffer but I expect (and hope) he may return.
