Star Trek: Discovery reimagines the classic franchise for TV's golden age

After a 12-year break from the small screen and three blockbuster films, Star Trek returns to TV with big ambitions.
The series is entering the age of "peak TV" where the expectations are for it to match the quality of what has become
the norm in the industry.

It is no longer one of the dominant forces in pop culture.
Shows like Game of Thrones have been enthralling audiences in Star Trek's absence and amassing an army of fans in the process.

For 50 years we've lived with the peaceful credo of the utopian science fiction series created by Gene Roddenberry.
But what we've seen in each version of the series across television and film had to be earned at some point.
Star Trek Discovery seeks to answer the questions of the past.

"Why are we fighting? We're Starfleet.
We're explorers, not soldiers," says one of the crew of the starship Shenzhou during a battle in Star Trek Discovery.

The sentiment echoes the crisis Star Trek has wrestled with over the past decade.

There's another Startreck sequel running. The patent must have expired on the franchise. Caught the first couple of episodes which were moderately entertaining.

Watched the 1st episode....Star Fleet vs Klingons....I'll watch the 2nd just to see what happens...pretty much the same old though.

WOW ... watching the original Star Trek series now.

One I've never watched before ... the one where some alien nicks off with Spock's Brain ... CLASSIC

EDIT:- Scotty is very young, so must be an early eposide.

Beamed down to the 'M' Cass Planet ... 3 Officers with 2 Security Guards ... the extras (Security Guards) will die ... sure!

i remember reading a few months ago that Indonseia Telecom were blocking Netflix there for some reason. You might be throwing your money away.

I used a vpn to contact Netflix and recover my password. Netflix have stated that users employing a vpn will be shut down, so you could be right.
The gf installed som Indo film site on the MacBook and it works ok if the streaming speed is sufficient.
Will also try TPB thanks.

The black bird is nice, but I've always thought they need to make a bit more effort with aliens, as well as nipple-hugging skinsuits.

Watched the first three episodes. Liking it more each time. Formulaic for Trekkies but good premise anyway.
