Thumbs up The 24th James Bond movie!

The 24th James Bond movie, starring Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, Léa Seydoux and Monica Bellucci, is named after the evil organisation first seen in 1965

He has charmed, seduced and battled his way across the big screen for more than half a century, but now James Bond looks set for a return to his 1960s roots. The 24th 007 movie is to be titled Spectre, after the evil global terrorist organisation first introduced in cinemas at the height of Bond mania in the 1965 film Thunderball, it was announced on Thursday.

At a star-studded press conference live-streamed from London’s Pinewood Studios, where director Sam Mendes is due to begin filming next week, producers also revealed that the Austrian actor Christoph Waltz will play a key role in the movie. But they refused to confirm reports that the two-time Oscar winner has signed to portray the new Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the iconic Bond villain who traditionally heads up Spectre.

Léa Seydoux, 29, who starred in Blue is the Warmest Colour, and Monica Bellucci, 50, who starred in Irreversible, will play the new “Bond girls” – Madeleine Swann and Lucia Sciarra, respectively – opposite 46-year-old Daniel Craig in his fourth outing as 007. The new film has also added Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista and Sherlock’s Andrew Scott to the cast. Bautista, who is a professional wrestler, will play a character named Mr Hinx, tipped to be a henchman of sorts, with Scott as a Whitehall newcomer named Denby.

Reports two weeks ago suggested that three key action scenes, including night-time vehicle chases, will take place in the Rome’s historic centre and on the famous Corso Vittorio Emanuele II thoroughfare. Further Italian scenes will be shot at the royal palace of Caserta in Campania, a huge 18th-century site constructed for the Bourbon kings of Naples, reports said.

“For Bond fans, this is the best Christmas present – the return of James Bond and classic elements of the series with yet another classic title coined by Ian Fleming,” said Ajay Chowdhury of the James Bond International Fan Club. “This announcement is like opening the first window of a Bond advent calendar. Further windows will be: who will sing the song, the first trailers, the premiere. The only thing better than this news would be Santa driving an Aston Martin sleigh.”

Spectre, which is due to open in UK cinemas on 23 October and in the US on 6 November next year, arrives with the spy saga at an all-time high in terms of critical cachet and box office clout. Mendes’s Skyfall took more than $1.1bn (£700m) worldwide in 2012 and is Britain’s highest-grossing film, with receipts of more than £100m.

Announcing the production, Sony said of the plot: “A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre.”

Sounds like it could be a good one with Christoph Waltz as the lead villain.

BOND star Daniel Craig has only agreed to star in the upcoming Spectre if he is allowed to perform the theme tune.

The actor will be the first Bond to do the theme tune himself and has promised that there will be ‘none of that awful howling’.

He continued: “After last time, when that big lass ruined it by caterwauling about trifle and crumble, I thought I ought to step in and do it properly.

“It’s going to be like a cross between Ghostbusters and Shaft, with me shouting ‘SPECTRE!’ really dramatically in between funky guitar breaks and a Doors-style organ solo.

“Ben Whishaw – Q and the voice of Paddington – is doing a rap about crazy equipment like laser pens and exploding eyelash curlers, and at the end there’s a call-and-response where I go ‘Who got the Bond? I got the Bond.’”

Director Sam Mendes said: “I was apprehensive, but it already sounds like it’ll be some distance better than the Sheryl Crow one.”

All a product of their times, even the insufferable Roger Moore period.
I will say I think Skyfall has become the best Bond movie yet.

Certainly not, it constantly reinvents itself and gathers new fans.
1.1 billion at the box office proves it.

Only proves that 1.1 billion can be easily hypnotized and reconditioned.
    Consider the source.

Just because it's falsely popular doesn't guarantee a decent product - that's been saturated.

Moore was probably the closest to what that terrible snob Ian Flemming had in mind. Can't really see Craig ordering hand made cigarettes by Morland, but I could see Roger doing that.
Let's hope, however, that there is another 50 years of Bond still to come.

Mr. Craig is probably the most earthy of all the Bond players throughout the years.

I've seen him in quite a number of films [nothing to do with the Bond series] - quite the diverse actor.

H'mmm, sorry to be a spoilsport but from Moonraker onwards the the Cubby Brocolli produced series of Bond movies do not actually follow the plot of any Ian Fleming novel. Still, it is the most lucrative movie franchise in world history I believe.

A Bond film is a lovely bit of escapism.

My brother scored us tickets to the premier in Leicester square of one, it was a brilliant night out. When the "Bond, James Bond" line came the whole place went mental!

Craig has been superb so far imo.

The Bond poll is still open for those that haven't voted for your favorite yet. Connery is the clear leader, but there have been only 28 votes overall.

Oops, best get 007 on the case...

Real-life Bond villains steal NINE luxury cars due to star in new 007 film

REAL Bond baddies have stolen nine top-of-the-range cars lined up to appear in 007’s forthcoming film Spectre.
The daring theft came days after movie director Sam Mendes warned James Bond fans to expect “a little more mischief” in his next adventure.

Five Range Rover Sports were reportedly among the vehicles stolen from a garage in northern Germany.

The cars, worth an estimated £630,000, had been specially modified for the movie project and were awaiting transport to the Alps for filming which begins next week.

It is not known if the Range Rovers were fitted with typical super-spy gadgets, but it is likely that new cars will have to be built due to their specific requirements for the film which sees Daniel Craig play James Bond for a fourth time.

German police admit they can’t find any trace of the missing vehicles amid claims the theft could delay location filming.

Only last week the cast and crew – along with Bond’s latest Aston Martin DB10 car – gathered in front of the world’s media at Pinewood Studios, the traditional production base for the movies where rehearsals are taking place.

Land Rover UK issued a terse statement last night saying: “We are aware of the theft of a number of Range Rovers in Dusseldorf, Germany.

“This is a criminal act and the police are carrying out a full investigation. That is the only comment I can offer.”

There are high expectations for the film – to be released next November 6 – as its predecessor was the biggest movie ever at the UK box office, taking in excess of £100million.

There is already speculation about who will sing the theme song, following Adele’s performance on the Skyfall soundtrack.

Bookmaker William Hill makes Sam Smith 4/1 favourite, with Ed Sheeran second at 6/1. Lana del Rey, Rita Ora and One Direction are at 8/1.

The new film’s title revolves around the Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, led by iconic evil genius Ernst Blofeld, the super-villain from the Dr No and Thunderball movies.

The film – the 24th 007 movie – will feature Oscar-winning star Christoph Waltz, Moriarty actor Andrew Scott, Italian star Monica Bellucci and French actress Lea Seydoux alongside Craig.

It will be shot on location in London, Mexico City, Rome, Tangier and Erfoud, in Morocco, as well as at Pinewood, Bucks.

Director Mendes said of the movie: “The pressure is to not let down the audience. The mark of success is if the audience loves it, they’ll go and see it and then tell their friends.”

    Possibly very unsafe cars.

If you see a RR Sports on the motorway suddenly lip into the air and explode, that's one of them.
