Loads of us like music, so I thought it might be good to share our experiences on headphones and/or speakers. I brought some headphones recently, on the spur of the moment at the airport, and it would have been good to have some other folks' experience and suggestions.
I bought these Shure 215
They come in a little case with some earpad/bud options (about 6 different pairs):
I got them at Swampy which quite an expensive place, about 3 thousand and something, I think they're usually about 60 squids ($100), but you can get them cheaper if you look around.
I initially didn't like the way they fitted in my ear, and didn't really use them on the plane. But, now I've got used to how they fit in, and they're fine... The sound is good, you can certainly notice a step up from mobile phone speakers, etc. I was just lucky really, tried a few out (the shop guys didn't like that much...), and kinda knew that the brand mostly made strong earphones.
But, they are not really blowing me away, they are not that comfortable for me little ears either. Good, maybe very good, but not great, imho.
I got them because me previous earphones are about 3 years old and have had a hard life, sometimes the ends feel a bit loose, especially at the socket end, so probably just time to let them die gracefully:
Denon c260, I paid about 1500 baht for them, but you can buy them for under 20 squids, so they are quite a cheap headphone. They were good for the money, tried out loads of pairs between 1000 and 3000 baht, and they played music through my music player better than others I tried at the time. Comparing with the Shure buds I just got, the Shure's are noticeably better, but for free dodgy downloads on me laptop, not much... For something like a well recorded (AAD) Peter Gabriel or something, it's quite noticeable. I think the Denons are very good value for money.
I got this last year to carry around with me and play at home (wherever home may be...):
It was the only NFC enabled small speaker available in Muscat when I was looking, and it wasn't cheap. They cost about 170 squids, so over $200.
It is nice and portable, well made, etc. The sound is good. But, I reckon there are many better speakers around now for less money... I wouldn't buy one again. In fact, I think the whole Beats brand is massively overpriced for good, but not great, gear...
Years ago, back in the UK, I had a nice stereo system, and my speakers were my favourite part. They weren't actually that expensive, about 450 squids, but they were the dogs dangly bits...
If I ever settle down again and buy some decent speakers, I'd be after a pair of EPOS speakers.
Anyways, how about you fellas and ladies? Do you wear big red Beats Audio headphones; I bet some of you do...
What headphones & speakers have you got, and how do you rate them???
