Interesting article mentioning the problems child prodigies can face. There are quite a few Thai kids where the interest of the public waned as they grew up:

9-year old Dutch singer: opera diva or fame victim - News - Society - The Voice of Russia: News, Breaking news, Politics, Economics, Business, Russia, International current events, Expert opinion, podcasts, Video

what ever happened to 'Diversity' they were a hit and winners, these look like lots of other here today forgotten tomorrow acts, time will tell. A few seem to have one minor hit as soon as they win that that's more or less it.
Watched an interesting documentary the other day called the great hip hop hoax about two guys from Scotland who could not get anywhere with their material. As soon as they used american accents and told people they were from CA they got a recording contract with Sony, same material different image.

I think whats happened, is the big stars before, out priced themselves so now what happens the artists get signed up cheap(still making a good wedge though)and have a sell by date.

Wow! Didn't see any exploitation in that performance, just sheer, heart felt talent, imagination and creativity, I may have never seen without such a show.. Must have had a Tv lobotomy as I enjoyed that very much, thank you for posting..

You must have missed the sob bit- mr Potts - has had a throat tumor and other illnesses, actually without wanting to be argumentative I thought he was not very good. Seems if you want to impress all you have to do is bash out an opera song, people think it must be good without knowing anything about it.

If you want to really get lobotomised watch the Thai versions of these shows, I had look at the voice thinking of posting a good one. All the clips I saw were ghastly, a lot singing middle of the road songs in English and sounding like cats being tortured, still, I understand the masses love it, they also used to find executions entertaining though so public opinion is not always up to much.

College student is great but too ugly to make it, Rion I could happily strangle, horrible brat obviously has pushy parents. Lillie was great not so sure about the last one. The trouble with talented kids is part of the attraction is the age, when they grow up and others catch up with them they are no longer outstanding.

well two up two down were obviously front runners, but apart from them this is the only singer I have ever seen on these shows in the UK that was really top class:

I do wish the audiences on the shows would shut the fuk up until the artist had finished, they make it look like a circus act. Idiots, but I expect the TV encourages this intrusion.

well that's talent shows for you, but I don't think she's complaining, 28 million sales is not to be sniffed at these days:

Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British singer and songwriter.[1] She first came to prominence after winning the third series of The X Factor in 2006. Her debut album, Spirit, was released in 2007, and sold over eight million copies worldwide. The album's most successful single, "Bleeding Love", reached number one in over 30 countries around the world, and was the best-selling single worldwide in 2008.[2] She was proclaimed 'Top New Artist' by Billboard magazine in 2008. Lewis released her second album, Echo, in 2009. Her debut tour, The Labyrinth, took place in 2010. Her third album Glassheart was released 12 October 2012. It was preceded by the single "Collide", which became her seventh top-five hit in the UK. With the release of Hurt: The EP and "Trouble", Lewis has had nine top-ten hits in the UK. Nominated for seven Brit Awards and three Grammy Awards, Lewis has sold 28 million records worldwide.[3][4] With her expansive vocal range and powerful, emotive ballads, Lewis has been compared to her idol Whitney Houston.[3][5] As of 2013, Lewis is the best selling The X Factor act in the United Kingdom.[6]
