The Job centre in Thailand -dole for locals.

Is there any kind of Job Centre type place here for locals?

Or agencies of some sort - like how do locals find work if they don't know anyone.

Also is it really the case that people only pay around 4% income tax - this seems ridiculously low.

Do you think there will ever be a kind of 'dole' money scenario here in the future - I mean would this 'fit in' with the social structure - my guess is NO.

Hopefully not - they need even less encouragement to slack than Aussies do.

More likely that only 4% pay any sort of income tax at all.

the (Bhuddist) temple is/has been the major 'social safety net' here for the local poor for eons now.. doubt the govrmnt has anything more than self aggrandizing populist lip services schemes going on at the moment save prolly some royal sponsered scheme

    Tax
from 0% tax (=< 80K baht p.a.) to around 30%(?) depending on salary - me squeeze with a (very) lower 6 figure average monthly income is in the 10-15% tax braket (always depending on bonusses, % yearly raises, gold, OT and other variables e.g. in this past chinese new year a 4x4 Vigo was put up in a lucky draw for the slaves to salivate over). Most private sector jobs have no Pension fund save for minimal "social benefit" thingy that both the emplo/yer/yee pay into and is "transportable" to the next job or the employee can use the cash if out of a job..

so how much would say a local earning 20-30k a month have to pay in tax (ie:in %) - and is this deducted from the salary?

Hi. My name is Ot. I was a successful somtam cart operator until Lek the Taxi driver parked his taxi in my wok. That was 2 months ago and the government hasnt helped me at all. The insurance I bought from Lert wont pay because I was parked in amongst some other somtam providers who assured me that it was ok but it wasnt.
I have been off work for 8 weeks and I have a wife and 7 children that are now going hungry save for the kindness of our neighbours.
Everyday Lek waves as he drives past my mangled somtam cart in his now repaired taxi but what can I do? There is no DHSS in Thaland.

So what about the ones who are paid a reasonable amount and are still lazy/clueless?

Marmite - I guess it depends what you call a reasonable amount.

Captain - I think I agree with your sentiment but what is your actual point?

I admire people who are happy and content doing nothing. I wish I was. I can't keep still for five minutes. I'm like a 85Kg bee. Buzzing around. Making honey. Stinging people at picnics.

Or about "Thai rak Thai", led by a man who made a billion from the average "poor" employee and customer.

I think top tax rate is 37% if they did not lower it since 1999.

The 4 % rate is for self employed people I think.

I wonder if it is true though that state employed teachers do not pay any tax at all.

just as much as any other judeo-christian based belief and/or any other opiate for the masses.

Any faith one pertains to, one must pay some sort of fee be it monetary or conscience inspired type of service or both

sellers of spiritual goods are imnsho even worse than politicians...selling "futures" no one has ever seen while fucking with your brain
