Argentina condemns Prince William Falklands posting

Fucking dagos, never got over having their arses kicked, have they?

1 November 2011 Last updated at 21:14 GMT

The Duke of Cambridge's posting to the Falkland Islands has been condemned by Argentina as a "provocative act".

Britain says Prince William's deployment for training as a helicopter rescue pilot is routine.
But Argentine official Sebastian Brugo Marco said Argentina could not ignore the "political content" of the mission.
The prince's tour next year will come shortly before the 30th anniversary of Argentina's defeat in the Falklands War.
Argentina still claims sovereignty over the islands, which it calls Las Malvinas.
Mr Brugo Marco, the Argentine official with responsibility for the South Atlantic territory, made his comments in an interview with the Argentine newspaper, La Nacion.
"It is one more provocative act that shows Britain's military presence in a zone of peace where there is no armed conflict," he said.
"One cannot ignore the political content of this military operation bearing in mind that the prince forms part of the Royal Family".
'Arrogant' Britain The Royal Air force has stressed that the posting is a normal part of Prince William's training and says he will not perform any ceremonial duties.
His uncle, the Duke of York, served as a helicopter pilot in the 1982 conflict, when Argentina invaded the islands only to be defeated by a British task force.
Earlier this year Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner called Britain "arrogant" for refusing to negotiate on the islands.
Her government stepped up its campaign to gain sovereignty over the territory in 2010 after Britain started to search for oil in Falklands waters.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron has said there can be no negotiations on the status of the islands unless the people of the Falklands want them.
Britain has ruled the Falklands for more than 180 years, but Argentina insists it has a prior claim.

Argentina's consitution is a provocative act; as is its behaviour in Antarctica.

The Argentine Nation ratifies its legitimate and non-prescribing sovereignty over the Malvinas, Georgias del Sur and Sandwich del Sur Islands and over the corresponding maritime and insular zones, as they are an integral part of the National territory. The recovery of these territories and the full exercise of sovereignty, respecting the way of life for its inhabitants and according to the principles of international law, constitute a permanent and unwavering goal of the Argentine people.
source: Falkland Islands sovereignty dispute - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Falklands have been British for over 300 years (since 1690), over 100 years before Argentina even existed in any form, and have been continuously populated since being uninhabited for nearly 200 years.

Yep. Rockhopper, Desire, Falklands oil & Gas, and Borders & Southern are all there prospecting. Rockhopper have already struck oil, and with the Leiv Eiriksson drilling rig due there early in the new yaer, the potential for more oil is a good bet. Some people are already naming the Falklands the new North sea.

Argentina's "claim' to the Falkland has got to be one of the weakest territorial claims out there.
No Argentinian has ever inhabited the Falklands.
Britain has occupied, and claimed it, since before there was an Argentina.
It is a long way from Argentina- perched in the sth Atlantic, nowhere near it's territorial waters.
As of last count, not one single Falklander has the least interest in being part of Argentina.

    FAIL.

It's all about using rabid nationalism to distract people from the real issues that matter and keep the prol's in their place.

Falklands oil is Falklands oil, it's not British oil, it's their tax and their revenue they have a separate sovereign government, even as a Brit, you need a work permit and residency visa before you can be there for any other reason than tourism.

Willy's got a work permit somewhere safe - as if they're going to drop him in a sandpit somewhere!

Prince Willy is a symbol of "rabid nationalism"?!
Does anyone really pay that much attention to what the royals do any more?

    Not sure about sovereign government?

    copied from Wiki!
The British Overseas Territories (also known as United Kingdom Overseas Territories[1]) are fourteen territories of the United Kingdom which, although they do not form part of the United Kingdom itself, fall under its jurisdiction.[2] They are remnants of the British Empire that have not acquired independence or have voted to remain British territories. The name "British Overseas Territory" was introduced by the British Overseas Territories Act 2002, and replaced the name British Dependent Territory, which was introduced by the British Nationality Act 1981. Before 1981, the territories were known as Crown colonies.

    Poor Harry,

All he wants is to get shot at and laid like any other soldier of his age. So his Nan has him deployed to the Falklands. Poor rich kid! No luck! The 3000 inhabitants of the islands are happy that the world remembers where they are.

Its rather a delicate situation with the Falkland Islands, they are a long way off Argentina, but a lot further away from little England.

It smacks of colonialism at its worst, and is affilliation is most likely natural resource led.

I suspect it will need a decision from a world court or the like to finally arbitrate the custodian, a bit like the PREAR temple.
