Exactly. How the hell is 'unhealthy weight' any less traumatising ( ) than 'obese'?

    I AGREE WITH NOV.,RAIN COMMENTS.

No matter what words they try to invent, all the kids will still call them
    'fatty,fooking fat twat etc.
Kids never use the term 'obese anyway.

It's also rumored that the term "It's not over until the fat lady sings" be changed to, "It's not over until the skinny lady sings"

The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of Ingsoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible.
The ideal set up by the Party was something huge, terrible, and glittering--a world of steel and concrete, of monstrous machines and terrifying weapons--a nation of warriors and fanatics, marching forward in perfect unity, all thinking the same thoughts and shouting the same slogans, perpetually working, fighting, triumphing, persecuting--three hundred million people all with the same face.
Yeah, unfortunately it's well on its way. The term "unhealthy weight" is non-specific and could also refer to someone who is underweight. It's a very good term to point out that someone is not meeting the social standard without pointing out exactly how they are not.

Will they issue an ASBO for using the word "obese" now?

I always preferred porcine, rotund or corpulent, mainly as most folks have never heard of the terms and haven't got a clue if you are insulting them or complimenting them...However, it is advisable to have made your getaway before they reach for the dictionary. Death by suffocation is unpleasant and slow.

They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar
