Actually this was my response;
I see that you're one of those people who just ignore anything they don't want to see. Why am I not surprised by that and why is it such a characteristic of the scientifically illiterate? That link has been posted many times on this forum, I've already written a number of posts about what's said on that site. I'm not going to repeat them. Did you think this was the first GW thread we've had on here? You ought to learn to use the forum search function before making faith-based statements like that.

"scientifically illiterate" Name calling does not surprise me. That is one of hallmarks of the climate alarmists.

Didn't say it was unbiased. I said it told both sides. The author, a member of the IPCC, does make it clear he is not convinced enough to take the actions some are contemplating.
As this seems to be an old topic around here and I doubt there is much new to say on the actual subject, I will retire from dicussions except for trading insults with DrBobbie.

I think it is arrogant and conceited to think that Man as a species can influence the climate. Oh we can f#$% up the environment with waste and garbage but the climate?I have said before, that Bush was a denialist, yet during his terms no reputable science was put forward that disproved global warming. This makes me believe that there is not a single Climatologist out there who does not believe in manmade global warming.
Probably all a scam to stop the developing world from industrializing. Then there would be no market for all the stuff from the developed world.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all
Those who cannot change their mind, cannot change anything.
Ummm, what?
This is a closed finite system. The atmosphere is only so big, the planet only so big. 6 billion plus people can certainly fuck up the climate. We are fucking up everything, everywhere, from acidity and oxygen dead seas to the air all around. You might recall the ozone layer being severely depleted previously, as evidence of our global reach. You might also be happy to know that it is now repairing.
We are highly capable of altering the climate drastically.
I'm astounded that you'd even think for one second we can't.
"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar
Actually its not. The sun probably has more influence then anything else and even its impact varies. And we don't fully understand that either.
This is not so much about AGW itself, but about development or not. This AGW has been taken over by the eco- extremists faction of the environmental movement and is being used to further their anti-development agenda. What they project is a naive vision of returning to the supposedly utopian existence in the Garden of Eden, conveniently forgetting that in the old days people lived to an average age of 35, and there were no dentists. In their Brave New World there will be no more chemicals, no more airplanes, and certainly no more polyester suits.

That is probably true for much of the Media hype and I oppose that.Originally Posted by Thaihome

I agree 100% that we (humans) can impact a local environment and should do everything possible to mitigate those problems. That is much different then saying CO2 is pollutant and at a huge cost to our current lifestyle we should cut back our emissions something like 75%. CO2 does no damage to the local environment.

Do you understand what a closed, finite system means?
I'm not talking about external inputs.
We are a planet. Surrounded by a vacuum, just a little above absolute zero.
Some people seem to have a really hard time comprehending scale.
The earth is a rather tiny planet. We are extremely capable of altering every aspect of the atmosphere. It is not some vast, infinite thing. It's actually only a few miles in height.
Get it yet?
The little bit that we live in is not really closed though. Many many tonnes of meteors enter every year, and volcanoes introduce all sorts of materials in our little bit of earth. These two thins alone can cause massive changes, short and long term.
But the warmists have gone cool over CO2, now they're saying methane, CH4, is the new villian on the block. CH4 is 60 times more potent than CO2 although it decays more quickly.
C'mon keep up. Before you know it it'll all be th fault of those flapping butterflies in the Amazon rainforest.
The fact remains the same.... Whether its called Gwarming or climate change it is all the same ..... A complete load of garbage.....
Really when you start looking at Climate change or global warming and the crowd that follows it, they really are as fanatic as any religious cult out there....
So the climate crowd can keep their hybrid driving, tofu eating, dumpster diving, 1 square of toilet paper crowd... Keep believing that the failure of the IPC and the Cop talks were the reason for the disaster in Haiti.... Go right and keep it..... Damn you can't make this sh!t up....
btw... I kinda hope the climate crowd will take in the MORON in the US Senate who kept talking about on of her constituent who was so poor she needed to use her dead sisters dentures......... Oh and the president and his dead obama tshirt wearing constituent......
And I thought repubs were a weird bunch of well you get my meaning
