Knew an American deep sea diver who blew through a half million dollar insurance settlement in under a year on the strip in Manila. Also knew a one-armed Aussie diver in Phuket who went through about $350,000 in insurance settlement money in six or eight months. Booze and broads. Both eventually went home broke. They sure would have. Basically, they both just blew it. Nothing real to show for it. Hundreds of rounds of drinks, barfine 4 or 5 a night, and then forget where they had barfined them and would pass out somewhere. The American was an ass anyway, but the Aussie was a good guy - just didn't give a shit.
