Sex with girl, 10, was consensual, says accused man
A 21-YEAR-old man says he's innocent of alleged sexual offences against a 10-year-old girl because the acts were consensual.
Brodie James Watson appeared in Perth Magistrates Court today accused of sexual acts against the girl in her home.
He has been charged with four counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13, six counts of indecent dealing and one count of possessing an article with intent to injure.
Defence lawyer Andrew Parker asked magistrate Wayne Tarr if Mr Watson could live with a relative if he agreed not to go near the girl or her mother.
But Mr Tarr said Mr Watson's alleged acts were serious and he should remain in custody.
Mr Watson then asked Mr Tarr if his plea could be dealt with right away.
"Can we just sort it out right here and right now ... because ... I am innocent ... it was consensual," Mr Watson said to Mr Tarr.
The magistrate responded: "It can't be consensual if she's a 10 year-old girl."
He remanded Mr Watson in custody for three weeks.
