US plane 'forced to land in Iran'

US plane 'forced to land in Iran'
A US plane has been forced to land in Iran after violating Iranian territory, the Iranian semi-official Fars news agency has reported.
It said the Falcon aircraft entered Iranian airspace from Turkey, flying at low altitude to avoid radar.
The agency said the plane was detected by Iranian fighter jets, which forced it to land at an undisclosed airport.
Passengers included five senior American generals and three civilians, the report said.
The agency said the group was interrogated at the airport and then allowed to leave after it was realised they had entered unintentionally.
    More details to follow.

A refreshing and a surprisingly positive outcome. In the past, they would have held them for at least a few days to extract as much political gain as possible.

Sounds like BS to me. Iranian Propoganda machine at work. If this really happened they would have kept them and paraded them around like zoo animals for a few weeks.

Aahh, they were lost, of course, millions of dollars worth of aircraft, how much does it cost to train a pilot? and they were lost, jees.

    Iran 'forces down foreign plane'
A foreign aircraft has been forced to land in Iran after violating Iranian airspace, Iranian news agencies say.
The semi-official Fars said the plane was a US Falcon, while state TV said it belonged to a European aid agency.
Both reports said those on board were released a day later, without saying when the event happened.
The Pentagon denied any of its aircraft had been involved in such an incident, saying all were accounted for and that none had landed in Iran.
The Fars report said the aircraft entered Iranian airspace from Turkey, flying at low altitude to avoid radar.
It said the plane was intercepted by Iranian fighter jets and forced to land at an undisclosed airport.
It said its occupants were released a day later after it became clear they had entered the country unintentionally.

Skeptical myself. Seems to be some "confusion" in the reports.

Not too trusting, rather too anxious to report another foible of their supposed ally.
It's like walking into a candy store. Just can't help themselves. Even if they realize it may sound too hokey to be true, they can't resist reporting it as fact. Then look shitty when the real story comes out.

Not alone in that either apparently. The BBC's only reporting what the Fars agency has reported; nothing more, nothing less.

And if an Iranian plane strayed into American air space?

They would be treated pretty much the same as if an American plane strayed into Iranian air space. But no parading around the streets.

And if an Iranian plane "strayed" into Canadian air space?

Turns out it was a Hungarian airplane anyway. The ayatollah, ordered some goulash take out prolly. Just a mix up!

BTW the Iranians are still PO'd about that little incident when the Canadians helped the Yanks get out of Iran during the hostage deal several years ago.

No Americans on board the Hungarian plane.

Sorry to disappoint. Well done again, BBC.

You need to find a way to stop that chip on your shoulder obscuring the text when you're reading. Periscope, maybe?

Perhaps instead of forcing the errant plane to land, the Iranians should have behaved as civilized nations do and just blown it up. Anyone remember the Americans shooting down an Iranian passenger jet in 1988 and killing all 300 passengers? The little fuckers had the temerity to be flying within Iranian territory and thereby posed a direct threat to US interests - more info on Wikipedia. All together now, Oh say can you see....

Ahh, completely ignore the facts of the story and go on the offensive.

    Quite predictable.

What do you make of the BBC reporting this sensationalist story?

How many other stories have you been eating without question?
