Two Queensland police officers facing theft charges
TWO police officers in far north Queensland will face court on stealing charges following a tip-off from a fellow officer. One has since resigned.
A 31-year-old male officer from the Far Northern Region will face three counts of stealing, while a 27-year-old female officer will face one count.
The investigation started earlier this year when the Crime and Misconduct Commission was consulted after another police officer provided information.
The charges were laid against the pair of officers as a result of an Ethical Standards Command investigation this week.
The two officers have been served with notices to appear in Mareeba Magistrate's Court on November 3, where they will face the stealing charges.
The male officer resigned from the Queensland Police Service effective immediately following the charges, while the female officer has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the court proceedings next month.
